@bhogleharsha Many years ago, there used to be shared POTM awards. This game was a perfect occasion as Sanju and Bethell, both deserved it in equal measures.

Should the player of the match have to be from the winning team? Should he be the player who delivered the best performance? And so, who was your POTM

@bimlesh_m Can't believe that a 5-day game will be held in Chandigarh in the first week of June. The weather does not even permit a day-night ODI game.

@abandopa Just a way of punishing players and showing that the administrators are serious about bringing changes while hiding their own incompetence.

@bimlesh_m This is not merely a transition. This is also about poor preparation, planning and absurd team selection (a bunch of allrounders).

And to compare the two transition eras 2011-13: VVS, Dravid, Sehwag, Sachin and Zaheer Khan retiring Now we have had Ashwin, Shami, Rohit and Kohli all gone within a 12 month period and Jadeja being on the brink

Transitions hurt. From Jun 2011 to Dec 2012 we lost 0–8 in Eng and Aus and a home series to Eng. Then the rebuild started. Between Dec 2013 - Dec 2014 we lost four straight series in SA, NZ, Eng and Aus. 7 series lost vs 5 won (3 vs WI, 1 vs Aus, NZ ) in three and half yrs!
Arindam Paul@arindam___paul

When did we last lose 2 home series in space of 12 months? Who was the last coach who has lost 2 home series? This has definitely not happened ever since 1989. Has it ever happened before that?

If you really want to know what Kapil Dev did for Indian cricket— When he debuted in Oct ’78, the highest career tally for an Indian pacer was 74 wickets. In 1979 alone, Kapil Dev took 74 wickets. 🤯 The revolution had begun. x.com/cricketcomau/s…

How dumb does one need to be @DelhiCapitals ? and above that the @BCCI hasn’t yet canceled India’s tour to Bangladesh in Aug.

@bhogleharsha @imVkohli He inherited a weak test team from Dhoni. This team was more than happy to draw a test match. Enter Kohli and the entire thought process changed. The focus was to WIN games.

Thoughts on the retirement from test cricket and the legacy that @imVkohli leaves. There will be an emptiness for a while. What do you think was his primary contribution? Happy to hear considered thoughts. youtu.be/cizjMyXbeDs?si…

RoKo reminded a generation where cricket’s heart truly beats. In an era of easy T20 riches, they chose the tougher, purer road prioritising tests. That will be their biggest legacy - showing us all that Test cricket is the soul of this beautiful game. #RohitSharma #ViratKohli

First @ImRo45, now @imVkohli. Indian Test team gets a generational reset in just a week. Two giants of Indian cricket walk away quietly, on their terms, no pressers, no fanfare — just an Instagram post. Thank you for the wonderful memories #Hitman & #Cheeku 🎉🥳

@cricBC Wonderful post. I remember writing about it in a tribute to Rahul Dravid wherein I describe that event (batting for a whole day without losing a wicket) as Sholay - something that happens once in many many many years.

कैसे आकाश में सूराख़ नहीं हो सकता एक पत्थर तो तबीअ'त से उछालो यारो - Dushyant On this day Laxman became my favourite player of all time for creating a hole in the sky called the mighty Australian cricket team. Gilchrist wrote in his autobiography about Slater setting up some cigars in his hotel room on the morning of Day 4 to celebrate the final frontier for their all conquering team later in the evening. When you have McGrath and Warne in the side, it's not a huge leap of faith to assume that his team will take 6 wickets in the day after making India follow on and having the last pair of batters on the crease. But cricket Gods had bigger plans. It's also important to remember that the 281, like Rome, wasn't built in a day. Laxman was made to open the batting in Tests for India, a role he was never comfortable with. But that was the only slot available in a team full of middle order stalwarts. He told the selectors that he is happy sitting outside the squad and will only play when there is a middle order position open for him. He went back to play domestic cricket for a full season, made triple hundreds for fun, broke every record in the book, and forced his way back into the side. The rest as they say is history. Like Frank Sinatra, Laxman has every right to say "I did it my way" when he looks back at his career. I wasn't alive when 1983 happened. But based on all the cricket I have seen, Indian cricket can be divided into pre and post 2001 era. 1983 was an against the odd win. 2001 was a miracle that continued to play out for an entire day. The movie Kai Po Che justifiably chose the moment of 2001 Eden Gardens win as the point when a group of friends regrouped and believed they can revive a failing business. 14 March, 2001 is the only motivational book/quote/lecture I have needed in life since.

Do celebrate Holi, but also celebrate 2 men who walked in on this day 24 years ago with the score at 254-4 & 90 overs later, returned unbeaten with the score reading 589-4. Laxman & Dravid, Eden Gardens 2001

@KesariDhwaj Exactly my thoughts. We were never short of enthu. We developed our own version of football - playing with a small plastic ball (normally used for playing cricket). Was it easy? No. Was it fun? Hell yes!!

For us 80s kids, resources were limited but not the enthusiasm! Thapi (washing paddle) - the all weather substitute when a proper cricket bat wasn't available.

All rejected papers share one common flaw: a weak discussion section. I know because I used to write them too. If you're stuck on the discussion section, wondering how to tie it all together, this is for you:
