If there is an assumption of full 5 year terms this is a fair suggestion. But what happens in cases like 1996-1998 or 1989-1991? Our parliamentary democracy still allows for that model.

India should seriously consider a 2-term limit for PMs & CMs like the US. Strong democracies are built on institutions, not personalities. Fixed term limits reduce the risk of dictatorship and allow governments to focus more on long-term development rather than permanent election management. BJP is in the best position to implement this from 2029. Modi ji can remain PM till 2039 if elected, but after that, no one should be allowed more than 2 terms as PM or CM.

Why do commentators forget that the BJP has more than 6 times as much money power than the next party? You need money just to pay for the petrol bills and tea and snacks of your party workers. Then come front page ads, billboards, rallies, etc. The opposition cannot come anywhere close to the BJP even on these legitimate expenses, leave alone anything else. @adityajakki This was once tried in KA and people assumed Congress and JDS votes will add to each other seemlessly.. BJP ended up getting 26/28 seats and 1 went to an independent.
There are too many local stakes for such alliances to work.
