Hopefully one day once I get my life together I can go into politics. I love law, I love community, and I love fairness. I can’t be corrupted. I’ve been through too much. I would ensure all decisions would be for the greater good of everyone, not just the privileged few.

People defending AI-written slop have obviously never written a book in their lives. If only you knew the blood, sweat and tears that go into writing a book... And no, AI can NEVER replace that. There are some things you just cannot replicate and good writing is one of them.

Dweeb is out of surgery! 😅 They were able to get plates on both sides of his jaw! It was a very long and intricate surgery, his blood pressure got a little dicey during it so they're keeping him overnight to monitor. I get to pick him up in the morning 🥹

@KT_Carlisle Here are a few things I've noticed when editing AI slop (don't judge me, I have to pay my bills): Lots of single-sentence paragraphs for no reason. Like, whole pages sometimes. Excessive use of "not this, that" format. Chronological or logical errors a human wouldn't make.

Things I still want to know re: The "Shy Girl" Scandal 👇🏻 1. How did an AI-written manuscript escape the scrutiny of an agent, editor, and Big 5 publisher? 2. What methods were used to definitively determine the book was written using AI? (And I don't want to hear, "It's obvious!" I've worked with plenty of authors whose work I was suspicious of having been written using AI, but I'd still never go so far as to flat-out accuse them of having done so without actual proof, usually in the form of a baked-in prompt—which, yes, has happened before. So, I'd really like to know how Hachette actually determined this to be AI-generated beyond public outcry. Because if all it takes is a few witch hunters to yell, "AI SLOP!" then I'm sorry, but that's equally problematic.) 3. Did the publisher think the public was too stupid to notice, or is trad pub really *that* overworked/understaffed that they were unable to catch something so obvious, even after multiple rounds of edits?

@hidings0l0 I do feel sad for Mel who is clearly very attached to the parental role she plays for Becca, but this is also an opportunity for her to get her own life back, and I hope she figures that out soon.

@jbienkahn My books may have an audience of 3 of my friends, but at least they're mine. My blood, sweat, and tears made them. Not an algorithm.

This is extremely big and public and humiliating for this writer, but just know: I’m also privately cancelling each and every writer who pitches me with AI (and I’m sure many other editors are too)…

i have to add to this that it’s not about becca understanding social cues and doing the polite thing by inviting mel, it’s that she seemingly doesn’t WANT her there and therefore doesn’t offer that as an option
