@RalphyHeraldSun Do it anyway just to drag Foot back and make him admit he can't possibly have been 100% certain of his testimony given what audio we do have doesn't sound anything like his claim. Then ban him forever because he clearly sucks at interpreting events 2m away from himself
English

The cost of an AFL appeal for a tribunal decision is $10,000 (refundable in the event of a successful appeal). You would think a Port Adelaide football club desperate to show Zak they are doing everything in their power would pay the cash. They would weigh it up against the cost of the distraction ahead of Saturday's Hawks game but surely this is the issue you die in a ditch over as a club to back your acting skipper
English

@cleary_mitch @7NewsMelbourne @7NewsAdelaide @7AFL Pathetic. Foot should never umpire again. No proof, just back whatever the umpire says. This is USSR level bullshit
English

Port Adelaide’s Zak Butters found guilty of Abusive, Insulting, Threatening or Obscene Language Towards or in Relation to an Umpire.
He’s been fined $1500
@7NewsMelbourne @7NewsAdelaide @7AFL
English

@jason_isaia @cleary_mitch Except butters has wines to back up his story and foot had literally nothing
English

@wAzNuTz @cleary_mitch its he said vs he said. just remove the fine and play on, the mic didn't get it and there's no witnesses.
English

Zak Butters is currently before the AFL Tribunal.
Both the AFL and Port Adelaide are comfortable with a $1500 fine should the charge be upheld
@7NewsMelbourne @7NewsAdelaide @7AFL
English

@Crickettrag1965 The umpire has no witness to back up his statement, yet butters has. Seems a very obvious case dismissal and a month of administrative leave for the umpire to work on his interpretation of events in front of him.
English

GOOD MORNING ALL,
Zak Butters saga rolls on ..
Whether Nick Foot ( the umpire ) heard rightly or wrongly …..there’s no way the AFL doesn’t back it umpires, especially since the incident has been referred directly to the tribunal.. we all know what happens then 🫣
However I am intrigued to see how
without any - audio evidence - how the AFL hands out a sanction on this one .. with both parties so adamant ..
How many weeks if at all .. 🤨
In the real world ..
NO EVIDENCE NO CASE 🤷♂️
English

@cleary_mitch If that's foot's testimony and butters is found not guilty, surely he spends a few weeks on administrative leave. Can't have an umpire declare 100% certainty when there obviously isn't any. Shows even poorer judgement than usual. He's lucky he hasn't been fired already
English

@ChrisClement84 @RalphyHeraldSun He's literally employed by Sportsbet...
English

We officially have Collard 2.0. Nick Foot is doubling down, has told the AFL today he heard Butters say something much stronger than a query about why he paid a decision. Port backing Butters. If neither party backs down by late this arvo we are likely off to a tribunal, which could hear the case ungraded. How else can the AFL solve it? The ump microphones weren’t turned off, they just didn’t pick up the exchange 👇 heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/the-…

English

@RalphyHeraldSun What is light impact? Does it exist? Player got up straight away, took his kick, and wasn't even looked at by the head injury crew...
English

This fits very snugly into the medium impact, careless one-week ban category. Chose to bump, takes Duursma high. Should miss Blicavs' 300th. Toby Greene body-checked Maurice Rioli, who grabbed at his jaw, but the replay showed only body contact. Surely no Toby tax this week so should be fine to take his place in the Sydney derby

“If you choose to bump, and you cop them in the head, then you come under scrutiny.” Mark O’Connor is set to sweat the MRO’s call on this hit. 📺 Watch #AFLCatsEagles on Ch.504 or stream on Kayo: bit.ly/48H1sjT ✍️ BLOG bit.ly/4clncmq
English

@TheChadPhillips @7AFL @XanderMcGuire7 He gets off sure, but you can't give back the 50m and the goal
English

@7AFL @XanderMcGuire7 Easiest conclusion ever. The umps are miced up.
If Zac is telling the truth, he gets off. If he isn't, give him weeks for blatantly lying and making a big grandstand about how he's a good bloke.
Simple.
English

"I went up to him after the game to have a chat... he said he didn't want to speak to me."
Zak Butters spoke to @XanderMcGuire7 on his report for abusive language.
English

@peteguley @royslions @hasumpstuffedup I'd rather just see incorrect disposal paid properly tbh. Calling it htb I think is the wrong call and sends the wrong message.
English

@wAzNuTz @royslions @hasumpstuffedup It’s a fair discussion.
I’ve commented on this for several years and I always refer back to ‘Clarko round’ after Clarko was scathing on this very interpretation.
The umps became red hot on HTB but it only lasted one round. The footy was awful. People need to watch these games.

English

This was correctly umpired
Maynard tackled immediately after he gathered the ball and tries to dispose. No prior + genuine attempt = play on
Bolton has a clear prior opportunity but fails to dispose. That's HTB
Well umpired. Fans need to understand the difference

English

@peteguley @royslions @hasumpstuffedup In your opinion. I'd rather remove as much personal interpretation as possible for umpires as that's what leads to poor decisions more often than not.
English

@wAzNuTz @royslions @hasumpstuffedup Because the alternative is worse for the game.
It’s not perfect I agree but still the better option.
English

@peteguley @royslions @hasumpstuffedup These are just two instances. The attempt interpretation has been poor for seasons now. Either you dispose of it correctly or you don't. Having a "he tried" option is ridiculous. Why bother having proper disposal rules if all you have to do is try?
English

@wAzNuTz @royslions @hasumpstuffedup The decisions weren’t crazy. They were correct.
The fact you think they’re crazy doesn’t make them crazy. One had prior, one didn’t.
Watch games where they’re so red hot on HTB that the ball carrier is constantly penalised when trying to dispose. That’s the crazy interpretation.
English

@peteguley @royslions @hasumpstuffedup I think you're wrong. Player instinct is always to go for the ball and this won't change that. What it will change is crazy umpiring interpretations like the above where there is 2 obvious incorrect disposals and only one of them was paid as a free kick, even that was paid htb
English

@wAzNuTz @royslions @hasumpstuffedup Sorry, I disagree completely. We want to encourage players to get the footy & dispose of it.
No one will pick up a footy if they’re about to be tackled or they’ll just hold it in and wait for the ball up.
I think your interpretation is bad for the game. These decisions were fine.
English

@peteguley @royslions @hasumpstuffedup I'd rather the first one be called incorrect disposal because that's what it was. You must make an attempt, but if that attempt fails it's a free kick. Not difficult to understand and removes any interpretation for the umpires
English

@royslions @wAzNuTz @hasumpstuffedup So, in a tight situation, you’d prefer the ball carrier to hold it in and accept the tackle rather than try to dispose? Because that’s what they’ll do.
There are problems either way but the current rule is best IMO.
English

@theaiportfolios @TierOneResearch Crazy that's exactly what mine did too. Barbell strategy but shifted to XLP, XLV, and SHV. Still ran at a profit (albeit minor at around 2-3%) but survived the downturn. Really interesting how similar out agents are.
English

Thanks! That's exactly what we're stress-testing. The Iran war gave us a preview — oil spiked 40%, gold hit all-time highs, and the portfolio had to navigate a live geopolitical shock for 5 weeks. Claude built a barbell structure with war hedges (DVN, GLD, AU) alongside company-specific catalyst plays (AVGO, LLY, OKTA). Today's ceasefire flipped the regime and the portfolio is rotating accordingly. The real test will be a sustained bear market where there's nowhere to hide — that's when the discipline around thesis-based holding and turnover caps matters most.
English

Breaking: Claude called $350 on Broadcom two weeks ago. It hit today.
On March 31, Claude made AVGO its largest position at 10%.
The thesis: Broadcom controls 60-80% of the custom AI chip market, AI semiconductor revenue was up 106% YoY to $8.4B, and a $73B backlog across Google, Meta, and OpenAI was underpriced.
Today:
Google extended its TPU partnership with Broadcom through 2031 and announced $180B in AI capex for 2026.
Anthropic committed to 1GW of Broadcom AI chips by end of 2026.
Mizuho estimates $21B in Broadcom revenue from the Anthropic deal alone.
AVGO is up 5% today, trading above $351.

@theaiportfolios @QuartlyMachine Will do. And yeah the invalidation thesis is our core value. Even worst case scenario you can run a trailing stop loss of say 5 or 10% depending on your risk appetite and the expected volatility of the individual asset
English

That is a smart approach. The invalidation thesis as a sell trigger is something we should steal. Right now our sell logic is based on expected return ranking vs alternatives rather than a hard thesis-break rule.
10 years across 4 indices is serious backtesting. The live test is where it gets real though. Slippage, position sizing at scale, and emotional discipline all show up differently with real capital. Keep us posted on how it goes.
English

@theaiportfolios @QuartlyMachine Some rather odd choices there... And strange that it's got some mega cap assets in its holdings. My AI is in live testing now with a paper portfolio and it's picks today were AVGO, CRWD, ASTS, and HIMS. Been running at 73% success rate and AVG return of 13%
