a freeway costs $50-200 million per mile to build and we don't ask it to turn a profit. a train line proposes the same price tag and suddenly it needs to be self-funding by 2031. the infrastructure we subsidize reveals what we value and we have chosen the car every single time

Car-centric design is simply a man-made construct. We can just as easily build a new culture and infrastructure centred around people, healthly living and the environment. Everywhere I've visited that has implemented and embraced these changes has been a wonderful place to be.

In 1986 there were approximately 14.5 million registered cars in the UK. That number has risen to around 34 million registered cars in 2026. Can anyone see why traffic congestion is such an issue?

This critique of bike sharing is the same nonsense that we hear about “empty seats on buses”. There is not much marginal cost to the surplus capacity, and the capacity means we can handle surges. The low cost of surplus capacity is what makes these modes resilient.

Been using the damn bike

I’m excited about the Marta bus redesign but I don’t like that they cut some of the routes that I’ve used more consistently (even though I haven’t been riding Marta much so maybe I deserved to have my preferred routes cut)

We need nationwide high speed trains. This country would be way better if it was walkable and had better/more transportation options.

This is a non-space. No one feels any sense of ownership over it. Not the businesses around it, not the city, certainly not the people who only drive past it. No one will ever walk along it, and therefore no one will ever care about it. Our country is filled with non-spaces.

The third-busiest domestic air route is Atlanta to Orlando. If high-speed rail connected the two, it could link them in 3 hours via Jacksonville, shorter than current TSA wait times. Just saying.
