When I was in Australia, I heard that many Chinese people who had lived there for many years would get sick during their first week back in China, because they could no longer tolerate the various kinds of filth there. By the second week, they would start feeling better, but the holiday would be almost over, and it was time to return to Australia.
I left in 2001 and have never returned to CCP China since, so I don’t have this experience.
