Top professional athletes often sign contracts exceeding $100M and are backed by a strong support system, including coaches, trainers, and nutritionists, all aimed at optimizing their performance. In contrast, top founders/CEOs/tech executives, whose decisions can impact billions of dollars and affect thousands of employees, often lack a comparable support structure. When I was a founder I fell into the same trap and ate like crap, barely slept, seldom worked out, and didn’t see a dentist for 5 years ...even though I knew better and had worked with trainers and nutritionists when I was a college athlete. Done! Started in darkness at 4.45 a.m. with headlamps, and the climb took 7 hrs 40 mins. I am not embarrassed to admit it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. Considered turning around many times, but thoughts of this campaign, my family, and my dad, kept me going. It felt like a battle of the mind and the lungs. The day was not without incident -- one climber had to be evacuated by helicopter (which also happened the day before). And while I’m never making a climb like this ever (ever) again, I feel that I’m only just getting started with regards to malaria. I’m more motivated than ever. While most people now start to understand what AI can do I find that most people (often even in tech) still don't have any real understanding of how it actually does these things. This means that they tend to either overestimate - or underestimate - what it can really do when they build products, regulate etc. I think it's generally important to understand technology to be able to apply it. So - trying to channel my inner educational/AI hero @karpathy - I did an internal Spotify talk for our executives and employees, where I try to build these intuitions without requiring any math or engineering background.
