@HadrianMusic @MickWest @scienceisstupid "Lately"? I saw them as a young child in the early 1960s, from airliners over London. I asked my Dad, an RAF bomber navigator, and he explained them to me. During WW2, bomber raids routes were planned to avoid leaving the masses of persistent contrails otherwise seen.

@MickWest @scienceisstupid I know what we're talking about, the ease at which chentrails are brushed off as contrails when it's obvious what we are seeing in the sky above us of late is not that latter . I'm sorry but I've never seen an abundance of persistent 'contrails' like this in my lifetime

RFK Jr. is rumored as a possible replacement for J. D. Vance. RFK is well known for his vaccine conspiracy theories, but did you know he also thinks chemtrails are real because he once hung out with Woody Harrelson when there was high upper-air humidity?

@toryboypierce @RachelReevesMP You mean the crash that affected countries about the world, caused by rightwing "deregulators" removing any limits on their profit-seeking irresponsible friends in finance capitalism? Including people like Richi Sunak?

@kurkkio @MickWest @MRCinco96 I see why you ask that, but Carl Sagan was right; “But I try not to think with my gut. If I'm serious about understanding the world, thinking with anything besides my brain, as tempting as that might be, is likely to get me into trouble.”

I look forward to Corbell's take on the analysis of the balloon-like Jellyfish. But in the meantime, for a level-headed and unedited interview with Michael Cincoski (@MRCinco96), check out this episode of The PiFi show from just three days ago: youtube.com/watch?v=uKkbw4…

@hemantmehta Atheist: Wait till those racist Evangelicals find out that Jesus wasn't white, he was a brown skinned Middle Easterner. He was a JEW! Xtian: Yeah. We all know that. We're good with it. Atheist: Jesus was wasn't white! He was Asian! Xtian: He was a Jew. Atheist: RACISTS!

I’m sure this blatant attempt to erase Jesus Christ’s Jewish heritage has NOTHING to do with today’s geopolitical affairs. I’m SURE this is just innocent. 🙄 Jesus is a middle eastern Jew. We know where the Middle East is but you’re trying to be slick. biblegateway.com/passage/?searc…

Jesus was born in Asia. He was Asian. The artists in this photo essay bring him back to Asia—but not to ancient Israel. These nine artworks "proclaim the expansiveness of Christ’s kingdom." christianitytoday.com/ct/2023/decemb…

@mikerussellatl @DTheKingpin I agree. People who believe that European extended through present day Turkey, Lebanon and Syria into Israel? And that saying that Jesus (or anyone) is not European is an insult? Unbelievable.

@DTheKingpin @mikerussellatl They were co-opted years ago. My dad was a missionary working with believers behind the Iron Curtain and they downplayed the plight of Christians and Jews back then. Sad.

@DTheKingpin Yes we do know where the middles east is. It is on the border of Asia (Lebanon, Syria, Turkey blending the edge of Europe/Asia) and North Africa. Europe not so far away, but not contiguous.

@CarmineSabia So. Which continent do you believe Bethlehem was in 2000 year ago. Europe, Asia or Africa? But Turkey, north and West of Bethlehem straddles the edge of Europe and Asia. Africa makes more sense, given that Eqypt borders it. But the obvious answer is Asia.

@ClarkeMicah @CosmicSkeptic Given Hitchen's unjustified accusations, and declaration that he was going to attack Alex o'Connor on Twitter, he was right to publish the full discussion. Hitchens is bitter that "nobody listens" to him. He might watch his behaviour in this video and consider why that might be.

@ClarkeMicah @CosmicSkeptic I cannot remember the last time I saw a more measured, rational and courteously conducted interview on a controversial topic, online or elsewhere. Alex o'Connor treated Peter Hitchens with respect, even in the face of rudeness.

@ClarkeMicah @CosmicSkeptic Almost seems churlish to mention this, but while Hitchens complains about "an hour", it was actually 42 minutes when he stormed off camera. The interviewer suggested 60-90 minutes on 2 topics, where is the bad faith?

@PhysInHistory "... much earlier than expected by chance..." Which, ironically, is how truly random numbers are. When people fake random sequences, they make them too evenly distributed, and never use a string like 999999. I remember reading about a teacher who was caught faking exam results

The Feynman point is the name given to the position in the decimal expansion of π where a sequence of six consecutive nines first appears. It is named after the physicist Richard Feynman, who allegedly joked that he would like to memorize the digits of pi up to that point and then say “and so on” as if π. were rational. The Feynman point occurs at the 762nd digit after the decimal point, which is much earlier than expected by chance.

@jayne_heidi @PhilC273 Remember Brian Redhead presented "World at One" for years. Tory MPs etc often complained about his "leftwing bias". After his death, it was revealed that he was a card-carrying longtime member of his local Conservative Party branch.

@McDegenGrill @MickWest @travisstaylor1 @theblackvault "Twinkle twinkle, Little Star, How I wonder what you are.." Stars twinkle because of the scintillation effects of the atmosphere. Then we film them with cameras aperture shapes, and different frame rates. These interact to cause some interesting effects.

A triangular aperture in a night vision device will make an out-of-focus star take on the same triangular shape. Notice the curves of the iris blades match the official Navy video. They thought it was a flying triangle. It's Capella, and it's the bokeh effect @travisstaylor1

@FullFact I have often thought that false statements by ministers in their official capacity capacity should count as perjury, carrying the full penalties in law that lying to a court entails. An exception for genuine public safety/security, subject to in camera checking of exception.
