We should ask ourselves if the unintended consequences of our (and my) enthusiasm for “open access” has been the extreme profit margin (funded by the public purse) of commercial publishers - and if so what should we do now ?

@igordownunder @AlboMP @scottaaronson Of course it’s not profitable yet (excepting businesses in the quantum supply chain)! The total current valuation of QC companies is far below the potential economic value once useful quantum computing is achieved. It’s basic economics - risk versus reward.

@Warwick_Bowen @AlboMP @scottaaronson That's not point. QC is possible and it's here. but it's not a profitable business (yet) like some promise. It's also not gonna make athletes run faster or decarbonise the planet. Well spoken academics around the globe feed gov BS promising snake oil. That's my issue.
