The brutal murder of Abdul Aleem Farooqi while protecting his family has shaken us all. I had the privilege of knowing Abdul, having seen him just over a week ago at my BBQ. Aleem will be remembered by all who knew him as a loving father, devoted family man, and community leader. Every family in Vaughan, King, and across the country deserves to feel safe in their own homes. After a series of attacks and home invasions, we cannot afford to wait. We are calling on the federal government to immediately reinstate mandatory minimum prison sentences for violent crime. We need to send a clear message of deterrence that if you commit a violent crime, you will face serious jail time. Enough is enough. Sign the petition and stand up for automatic jail time for serious crimes: stephenleccempp.ca/reinstate-mand…

As co-chair of the Parliamentary Friends Association of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Canada @PFA_Ahmadiyya, I was proud to take part in the 47th annual Jalsa Salana Ahmadiyya Muslim convention @Jalsa_Canada organized by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at @ahmadiyyacanada and to meet with National President Lal Khan Malik @lalkhanmalik. It was wonderful to reconnect with friends and community members. Their motto, ‘Love for All, Hatred for None’ truly shines through in their inspiring works both in Canada and globally. My congratulations to the organizers for fostering this unity-filled gathering!

Highlighting and condemning how India under the Hindutva ideology has turned into hindu supremacist society will not solve our own internal crisis. If we claim to be better then we have to better and ensure safety, liberty and dignity of all citizens under the Constitution. A 58 year Ahmadi Doctor Sheikh Muhammad Mahmood was shot dead in Sargodha yesterday. His crime was his religious identity. On 25th April it was reported that a 19 year Ahmadi Mohammad Asif was killed in Kasur. On 18th April a 47 year old Ahmadi Laeeq Ahmed Cheema was lynched by a Mob in Karachi. The National Commission of Human Rights which is Pakistan's official body responsible for investigating human rights violations in the 2023 report observed that Ahmadis are one of the most persecuted minorities in Pakistan. The Report also noted that "The statistics of human rights violations provided by the community from 1984 to September 2023 show that 280 Ahmadis have lost their lives due to targeted violence, and an additional 415 have faced assaults because of their faith. The assault on the religious identity of Ahmadis is evident in the demolition of 51 Ahmadiyya worship places and the sealing of 46 others by authorities. Furthermore, 39 worship places have been set on fire or damaged, and 18 forcibly occupied, revealing a systematic effort to eradicate spaces of worship integral to the community. The authorities have also obstructed the construction of 62 Ahmadiyya worship places, reinforcing institutional discrimination. The violation extends to the sanctity of the deceased, with 39 bodies of Ahmadis exhumed after burial, and burial denied in a common cemetery for 96 individuals. Disturbingly, 99 Ahmadi graves have been desecrated and damaged in the current year alone, emphasizing the nature of the assault on their dignity, even in death according to various reports."

The lives of Ahmadi Muslims in Pakistan are severely impacted by the actions of religious fanatics who are determined to persecute them by any means. In his recent Friday Sermon, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V (May Allah be his Helper) reminded us to pray for Ahmadi Muslims in 🇵🇰

A violent mob in Karachi, Pakistan martyred an Ahmadi Muslim today, His Holiness announced in his Friday Sermon. Mr. Laeeq Cheema, 46, was brutally attacked with bricks and sticks and died at the scene. He was the father of 7 children. Details are still emerging. It happened during riots by religious extremists against Ahmadis who had gathered at the mosque for Friday prayers. Anti-Ahmadiyya slogans were chanted as the extremists surrounded the mosque. His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad urged prayers for the Ahmadis there and reiterated that the community's response would only be through prayers alone.

This was my good friend from Pakistan. We met recently in Canada when he came to visit. I'm in shock and this is what the community faces everyday in Pakistan. May Allah bring his punishment down on these so called Muslims who are no different than Zionists.
