@ElPredestinato i would say carlos sainz marginally, as a sainz fan. i’m excluding all the recent f1 promotions here (and lewis + nando) - I think max and charles, and maybe lando are the only ones capable of being multiple world champions. slightly below is sainz, who’s still wdc capable

@_Jedec @Motor1com yes they do, the issue is that the lc and sc were GTs and not supercars. People want sporty performance cars (hence why a 350k mustang is in such high demand) (not including the og LFA here that was 500k in 2012 and basically unobtanium)

@wave83X @Motor1com Well, Lexus doesn't do halo cars. The SC, the LFA, and the LC generated minimal interest in the brand. Their best halo products are the LX and GX

The easiest cars to make fun of are the ones whose fanbases get the most upset tbh There’s a reason why people don’t rag on Lexus the same way they do Jeep or Tesla

@_Jedec @Motor1com I’m not denying that their best sellers are doing fine. I literally own an RX350h so i’m their target audience. I just think that the brand needs an actual halo car, and needs some excitement

@wave83X @Motor1com Nobody bought an LFA. It was a catastrophic, memeworthy failure for Lexus. Lexus already has all the prestige. The LX captures the old Land Cruiser demographic. The NX and RX are unbelievably hot years after launch. Their new direction is just fine.

@_Jedec @Motor1com yeah but you don’t really see non enthusiasts buying a literal LFA. With the rise in japanese sportscar interest and rivals to things like porsche in the sportscar space it would improve their prestige

@wave83X @Motor1com I think Lexus was smart to realize that enthusiasts were a poor demographic to chase and their redirection from enthusiasts while still styling their cars as such was a smart way to make easy money. At the end of the day, this is Toyota we're talking about

@MrDanzy83 @Planet_F1 I think they do have the expertise to start an engine project (between mclaren and ricardo). They develop various components for Indy and other series already

@wave83X @Planet_F1 Yeah can’t say I know if they have the expertise to build F1 engines but I am curious to know who is helping them build there engines for Le Mans too. I believe they can make it work for F1.

@Planet_F1 He is right, I’ve said it all along and people have said they won’t do it, but next rule set when engines change it’s time. They should partner with a big engine manufacturer like Red Bull imo. But let’s see if they have a plan?
