Southwest winds will rapidly increase to 25-35 mph by late this morning, with gusts up to 60 mph through the afternoon as winds gradually turn West. Damage to trees and power-lines and power outages are likely. Travel will be difficult for high profile vehicles. #ohwx #pawx

Snow returns tonight. Plan on waking up for about 1" - 3" with another couple inches through the day if you're downwind of Lake Erie. Not a "major" snow but it's falling DURING the AM drive... meaning impacts will be "major" Make sure you're prepped.

As I head back to North America, my focus returns to the incredible #Hurricane #MELISSA in #Jamaica. Penetrating the radius of maximum winds of this Category-5 buzz saw left me shellshocked. And I haven't had time to fully process it. But my mind keeps going back to it, obsessively—deep into the cyclone's inner core: the white void swallowing up the hotel, the painful screaming sound, the throbbing ears, the rattling door, the incredible motion & energy of it. And I keep going back to the incredible tales of survival—so many. Damaine was at home (just down the street from my hotel) when his house exploded in the fierce winds—literally blew apart around him. He barely escaped to his cousin's concrete shop next door. Once inside he felt safe—until the screaming winds crashed through the door. He survive crouched in the back, behind feed supplies. All that's left of his house: a concrete slab surrounded by sticks that used to be green trees. Damaine's is one of thousands of such stories. The wind damage from MELISSA is perhaps the most extreme I've seen in 35 years of chasing. There's so much I need to do with this one: analyze the data, create the video, & use my voice & my platform to aid recovery. I'm feeling almost overwhelmed by the task at hand. How do I do this one justice?
