The point is when you see Trump, Fox, and others mocking other networks for ratings declines, it is not happening in a vacuum. Context is key here. The news has slowed, prompting declines across the entire landscape. Fox is not immune.

In Q2 of 2020, Sean Hannity averaged 4.3M viewers. In 2021, that number is down to 2.7M viewers. Laura Ingraham averaged 3.6M viewers in Q2 of 2020. In 2021, that figure is down to 2.1M.

As Trump and right-wing media point out that CNN & MSNBC’s ratings have come down from the highs of a pandemic, election, and insurrection, it is worth pointing out the same is true for Fox. For instance, in Q2 of 2020, Tucker Carlson averaged 4.3M viewers. In 2021, 2.9M viewers.
