@webulite definitely a clown coming in my replies telling me i'm not practicing Theravada lol how long have you practiced? how much sutta have you studied?
buddhism is like being in a pitch black cave w/ a single match burning quickly. u can see the light of the exit in the distance, clear as day, and actually it isn't that far at all. but its crucial you use that match to navigate ALL the way out. not halfway! u might not make it!
@webulite p.s. in the dhamma, english is the foreign language. pali and sanskrit are the originals. if ur not willing to learn pali terms ur not a serious practitioner
I think the confusion comes in our approach. The image on the left is from your website. The image on the right are the folks that I appeal to. I think my approach is the show regular people that meditation is worth doing and as easy as going to the gym. I tend to avoid all intellectualization of the topic and even try to eliminate foreign words. I've told by people I know that my approach has made meditation very appealing to them. So what you described earlier sounds nothing like meditation to me. I think we're just speaking different languages.
@webulite pitch black cave: ignorance, conditions
single match burning quickly: human life to meditate, practice dhamma
light of the exit: nibbana
how is this "nothing like Theravada"? (which I've been specifically practicing for over 18 years btw lol)
Ptolemy stripped astrology of its Hermetic theology to make it acceptable to Aristotelian rationalism. At the time, overt metaphysics, fate-based causality, initiatory cosmology, daemons, etc. were suppressed. It kept astrology alive, but we lost the hermetic/theurgic based
Highway robbery by the refs both on the goal and the hook on Eichel, but VGK have not helped themselves going down 3-0…regular season performance #forgedingold
Do you guys have any pole with the ESPN play-by-play announcer? If so, tell him to stop telling us stupid history, facts and anything other than what's happening on the ice right now. That dude talk so much about shit other than the game... I know watch the games on mute and listen to an audiobook. That's how annoying he is. Maybe you can get something done since you're like part of the NHL and he's ruining your product.
It's best to watch the game on mute. Listen to an audiobook while you watch the game. The ESPN play by play guy... he doesn't talk enough about the actual game. He's always babbling on about history and irrelevant stats and basically talking about anything except what's going on on the ice. Never listen to him. Watch the game on mute and listen to something else.
I'm tired of these announcers all I do is talk about the avalanche well the avalanche are f****** losers so how about we talk about the golden f****** Knights?
Days of Heaven (1978) dir. by Terrence Malick and There Will Be Blood (2007) Paul Thomas Anderson would make an excellent double feature. TWBB feeling like a spiritual sequel to DoH.
X is the only platform I watch, so when I say "X" it probably applies to all social networks. When I watch posts on X it's like I'm watching posts from a different planet where everyone is mad, unhappy, and some kind of degenerate. When I get out in my town and talk to physical humans, they seems nothing like the posts from the people I see on X.
@blitzkriegbauer@jasmineeazj Men and women's interdependence can be temporarily, situationally separable and understood in isolation, but there is no way for either sex to build a worldview around this artificial, conceptual separation without becoming monstrous
Being a radfem is rough. We try to warn other women of what men are thinking of them when they have sex, and the other women fume at us because "we like sex with men it's an expression of love" if you could see inside his mind you would not feel that way
@HongZhou1110308@kiskebaka I have a good friend from Albania, who has a slightly different paraphrase of the Buddhist text here. His version is; "go fuck yourself" 😃
@kiskebaka I would still wish them Metta. But as Buddhists, we should always keep the Dhammapada (Verse 78) in mind:
1. DO NOT ASSOCIATE WITH EVIL COMPANIONS; DO NOT SEEK THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE VILE. Associate with good friends; seek the fellowship of noble people.

The mind moves along the paths it has traveled most. Familiar reactions, familiar loops, familiar limitation.
Practice is building new paths — one moment of clear seeing at a time.
