@wesmac5 Your talk was a highlight of the conference for me. Is it possible to get a copy of it? Great job and thank you for sharing.

On my way back from an incredible time at CAPS! Really love that there’s so many people working on the intersection of psychoanalysis and theology!

@wesmac5 Does this help? I’m speaking more to what is privileged and focused on in the dyad. A focus on us and relationships vs a focus on you as informed by relationships (Kohut, Stolorow, Barangers).

@neslizagli I don’t think I’m doing a good job of clarifying. By intrapsychic, you could think a focus on the patient’s inter/intrapersonal world without sharing explicit countertransference feelings. The image (Beebe at al. 2005) below captures part of the distinction I’m making.

Rough draft thoughts. Some felt particularly difficult to place.

@tenshi_anna Wow, that’s strong. Wicked? I mean I know that he was too ambiguous about it, but would love to know how that was baked into his philosophy? Zionism and responsibility for the other don’t seem compatible.

The only libs who are not libtards are Derrideans. Jacques Derrida developed the only viable system of minimally intelligent liberalism through a careful immanent critique of Heideggerian post-liberal/fascist philosophy. The deconstructionist standpoint is one of genuine critical comprehension of the post-liberal horizon, unlike “libtardation,” which is founded on willful incomprehension of the post-liberal other. Libs who reject deconstruction are categorically retards; Derrida showed them the only defensible grounds of their worldview and they couldn't handle it

Bethel’s response today was a billion times better than a week ago. Still a lot of work to be done and I am processing the content, but much better. May just be PR but at least the content has improved from the train wreck of last week. It’s time to evaluate the THEOLOGY behind this stuff too. A long hard look needs to be given to “Culture of Honor” because it is not a good ecclesiology for those of us who are Charismatic to embrace. It is an abusers playground, as I’ve said many times over the years, and we now see that was, sadly, correct. Ditch your version of the (A) and (P) and lean more into the NT. It’s a good source… I promise.

It’s unacceptable to have another needless death in Minnesota, and it’s unacceptable to have elected officials, candidates, and administration officials continue to throw gas on this fire, or tacitly encourage assaults on law enforcement and anyone else. The situation is un-American and Secretary Noem needs to step down.

Everyone should be way more neurotic about their sexuality actually. People aren’t nearly neurotic enough about it. There’s a way to do it and still be more or less “chill” about it too. But people have to stop acting like sexuality doesn’t functionally entail a sort of passage through hell for everyone, and it’s impossible to protect anyone from that; if you try to protect people from it completely they just end up temperamentally little kids forever, not even in the sense of childlike wonder, but in the sense of making messes they don’t know how to clean up

@drantbradley My spiritual director is a EO priest. He’s had 50 converts in the past year alone. EO is growing so much nation wide he said they need to be producing around 300 more priests a year to keep up.

I’m convinced that collaborative, empathetic, relational care is the major driving force behind good outcomes in mental health treatment. A corollary of this is that any time there is a differential between clinicians providing such care and clinicians deficient in such care — say, the former preferentially uses diagnosis/treatment A and the latter preferentially uses diagnosis/treatment B, it will look as if the good outcomes are due to the diagnosis/treatment when in fact they are largely due to the therapeutic relationship and the effect it has on the experience of treatment.
