Thank goodness @theroyalparks put up this sign telling cyclists to behave, good cyclists can set an example for bad ones, that always works in every walk of life. Thank you for demonising me for riding a bicycle. Next do speeding drivers, then vans. Unbelievable @RichmondPkCycle

@chausseedeforme @theroyalparks @RichmondPkCycle Based on your comments, we shouldn't put up signs....🤦 It's a reminder for the reckless cyclists and obviously it's more of an issue that you know about for them to take these steps. It also gives members of the public a reference when challenging cyclists.

@LouHaigh Freezing fuel duty for what, the twelfth year in a row? Terrible policy. Continues effective subsidy of society’s most damaging activities at the expense of the environment, safety and public health #budget

Earlier this year @AndyBurnhamGM committed to Vulnerable Road User Training for @BeeNetwork bus drivers Today, bus drivers are still putting vulnerable road users in danger When will we see higher standards for our city's professional drivers?

@DeclanGCarey Cllr Baynham is incorrect. CRSTS funding is not just for buses - in fact the funding criteria REQUIRE that schemes deliver for waking and cycling as well as buses

Cllrs are asking cabinet questions. Cllr Gary Lawson asks why there are no improvements for cycle lanes on the A6. Cllr Baynham says the funding on offer was to improve bus journeys and there was no option to spend it on the cycle infrastructure.

I’m at Stockport town hall for the latest full council meeting, where the big decisions affecting residents are made. Here are three things to expect from tonight’s gathering #LDReporter

@CatchAKatherine As others have pointed out the H.Code isn’t really the issue here. But what’s been installed *is* contrary to highways best practice set out in DfT guidance document LTN 1/20 Cycling Infrastructure Design - local council should be challenged to justify why not following this

Bizarre to see that sometime during the past few weeks, cycle path priority has been *removed* when crossing the entrance to Abingdon Aldi car park! Surely this goes directly against Highway Code?

In Episode 2 we touch on: - Canal paths and road rage - @OldhamCouncil's work with @peteswiftysan and @PlanitIE - @LouHaigh and new opportunities for active travel nationally - When is it right to call out councils for poor provision?

@WalkRideGM @OldhamCouncil Amazing to see the town centre absolutely thriving. This is how walking and cycling infrastructure should be. Actually getting to Oldham from Manchester was a bit dicey though - more about that on next week’s @WalkRideGM podcast

@Dbhglw1914 @FuckCarsReddit …but if an e-bike helps you avoid taking the car, even for just a few journeys per year, then it’s a win for the planet. People shouldn’t feel any guilt about e-cycling rather than pedalling.

@Dbhglw1914 @FuckCarsReddit Depends where you are. In the UK where a significant % of electricity is generated from renewables, e-bikes may produce *less* emissions per mile than pedalling, depending on the pedaller’s diet Impact of making and disposing of the batteries isn’t included in that calc…

No other mode of transportation rivals bicycles in minimizing our impact on the biosphere. The fact that a machine allows you to effortlessly travel 20 kilometers in an hour without needing an external power source is simply incredible.

@visitcamberwell @H_H_Gray Wheeling, or walking with a disability or impairment, sits somewhere in between those two positions. Both an unpleasant car-dominated experience, *and* a lack of safe infrastructure at conflict points.

@visitcamberwell @H_H_Gray Agree interventions must be accessible, safe & improve ped priority. But IMO those aren't the criteria that increase walking modal share. Unlike cycling (I *can't* cycle, no safe infra exists) walking = (I don't *want* to walk, it's unpleasant) So, placemaking & less traffic.
