@LNBBoxing Usyk would be a heavier favourite imo. the other day was Rico’s chance, as a boxing unknown, to take Usyk by surprise with his unorthodox style, but the cat is out the bag now. Usyk has seen him for 11 rounds and would not underestimate him again.

Based on the online reaction over the last 48 hours, I think the fairest rematch line would be: Oleksandr Usyk 1.55 (-180) vs Rico Verhoeven 2.60 (+160)

Had an interesting chat with Johnny Nelson about Usyk-Rico. He thought Usyk was distracted and was showing his age and was full of praiser for Verhoeven 1/2

@OrlaOrtiz6 Yes, sometimes, but not in this case. Rico was not merely ‘doing better than expected’, he was winning the fight after 10 rounds. only a biased scorecard could find 5 rounds for Usyk.

Perfectly reasonable scores. Broadcast so caught up in the narrative they forgot to actually watch the fight round by round. This was a “STORY OF THE FIGHT!” broadcast.

@BreakingBBoxing I disagree. Yes, he outlanded Safar and had good shots but the optics were bad. He was backing up way too much and giving off the vibe that Safar’s pressure was controlling it. it was not a clever or clear enough approach to win over the judges and not surprising Safar got the SD

Yamil Peralta got $25K to travel to Cali, jab Safar’s face off and get a shitty hometown shaft on the scorecards. There isn’t a world that Safar won 6 rounds in that fight. He walked in the front door, no ski mask and got picked apart for it.

Well, quite an upset. Morrell got a decision win in his last fight that he didn't deserve, this time he was on his way to securing a less than stellar but clear win but got stopped. ref was fair, did not stop it in previous round and Morrell was 37 seconds from getting the win. Remarkable

@arielhelwani Paulie blames the NHS but why was he there in the first place? For me the bigger issue is why is the promoter not arranging for appropriate access to medical care after a bare knuckle fight? You can’t be sending fighters to go wait in the general A+E overnight.

It tells us exactly how seriously the WBO take this issue. It damages the integrity of boxing. There is no justification for keeping Janibek as your champion.

@RobTebbutt I think Ursu would outclass Benn, but we’ll never see it. Benn would look for an easier opponent or a much bigger ‘cash out’ fight.

Matchroom re-signing Bam Rodriguez on a long-term extension is huge, particularly on the back of Conor Benn's Zuffa deal. Rodriguez one of the best pound-for-pound boxers on the planet, whereas if Benn were to face the current British champion Constantin Ursu, I'd make it 50-50.
