Excited to share that I’ve joined @RocketOTD to build and lead the company’s first Design Technology team! For nearly two months now, I’ve been diving into the mission that fuels Rocket: “Helping everyone home.” It’s a simple phrase, but one that carries deep weight. For many, homeownership isn’t just a milestone; it’s a life-changing foundation. Empowering that journey through technology and design is an incredible opportunity I’m grateful to be part of. Design tooling has never been more critical. With the rapid rise of AI and increasingly powerful prototyping platforms, how we design, test, and build products is shifting fast. The systems we create today shape not just the output, but how teams collaborate, move, and scale ideas tomorrow. Rocket is evolving quickly too. After a full rebrand in early 2025, the company has continued to expand its footprint in home search and lending by acquiring both @Redfin and @MrCooper. It is an exciting time to be building the tools and systems that support this next chapter. If you are working at the intersection of design, development, and systems, I’d love to connect!

Software is becoming yours. Just not on iOS. Apple is blocking apps that let you build software from your phone. We're one of them. So we opened early access to Bloom on Android.

@itsdavidalonso Wild to think about the alternative occurring – if web development was bottlenecked to mobile devices only.

What’s happening here matters beyond Bloom. We’re watching the cost of building real software collapse. Things that used to require a full team can now be built by one person with taste, technical judgment, and the right tools. That should expand what gets made. Instead, Apple is shutting down an entire category before it really has the chance to exist.

Apple is banning vibecoding apps. A new generation of personal software is emerging, and Apple is blocking it from reaching iPhone users. Everyone can build apps now. Just not on iPhone.

@melvynx Even if a user wants to iterate on an app on their device? Why force development to only occur on web?

Just asked it to create a travel itinerary for a trip next week - Found all the emails for transportation and reservations - Did research online to fill in the gaps - Created a Google Doc with the details - Updated my calendar with events - Shared the Google Doc with my girlfriend based on flight confirmation email Wow

Someone at @RocketOTD shared a LinkedIn post earlier today about @Shopify’s internal "Artifacts" platform. A few hours later, I had our own version running internally at Rocket — rebuilt using our internal design system. This is what modern AI tooling enables. What stood out most wasn’t just the speed, but how fast inspiration can turn into something real when the right tools are available. Huge credit to the Shopify team for sharing the original work that sparked this build 👏 Original post/video: linkedin.com/posts/jaytel_t…

Bring @Figma collaboration to any website with the click of a button. Perfect for feedback, notes or bug fixing with your team. Proud of all the small UI tweaks that make the experience unique: - Custom cursors to match the selected tool - Window bounds to keep user's names/chat visible - Defaulting to cursor for all modals - Attaching comments/highlights to DOM elements to support responsiveness and mixed browser sizes Coming soon 🤫

Not designer-who-codes. Not engineer-with-taste. Someone who holds the full picture: who can sit in a product conversation, feel when the scope is off, and ship the fix without passing it down a chain. If you spent years feeling like you didn't belong in either camp, I think this moment is yours. The role that never made sense on paper is suddenly the one everyone's trying to hire for.

Design systems are evolving to support agentic workflows. Tooling ships weekly. Platforms that never connected before are suddenly integrated. The whole landscape is moving, and it's moving fast. And the people who know how to live between product, design, and engineering? The ones who never waited for handoffs because they could just do the next step themselves? Turns out that's exactly what teams need right now.

For years, design engineers were the people who didn't fit. Too technical for design teams. Too design-obsessed for engineering. The org chart never had a clean box for us, so we made do while floating between disciplines. But something shifted.
