i'm gonna redo this in france which is suffering an egg shortage (bretagne produces 33% of the eggs!)

About a decade ago, many people in Chinese stopped believing that chickens marketed as "free-range" were legit, because some unscrupulous suppliers tried to pass off bad chicken as premium, leading to small disease outbreaks. In 2017, a Chinese company called GoGoChicken began sticking ankle bracelets onto all of their newly-hatched chickens to track their locations (via GPS), daily steps, the local air quality, and more. These data were logged onto the blockchain (for no apparent reason other than "credibility.") When these chickens were slaughtered and packaged, the company included a little QR code on the label. Consumers could scan this label and see details about that particular chicken; where it was raised, what it ate, number of daily steps, and when it was slaughtered. These chickens were profitable, selling for up to $43 each. The technology expanded to more than 400 farms, but the company eventually went out of business for reasons that are unclear to me. (The company also pitched an idea to allow people to buy their chicken four-to-six months before slaughter, so they could follow its life and remotely watch the animal as it grew up. Strange.) Yes, this is literally a plot from the first episode of the TV show, Portlandia. But it is also a real story, well documented in the book "Blockchain Chicken Farm" by Xiaowei Wang, which is itself a collection of strange stories about technology adoption in rural parts of China. Recommend.

Looks like an interesting new Taiwanese film, I think it's on Netflix right now @NetflixAsia ' "A Foggy Tale" (大濛, 2025) is a poignant Taiwanese historical tragicomedy set during the dark early years of the White Terror era in 1950s Taiwan. The story follows A-Yueh, a brave 15-year-old country girl from Chiayi, who travels alone to Taipei to retrieve the remains of her executed older brother after he is shot by the government for alleged anti-authoritarian activities. Armed with almost no money, she forms an unlikely, protective bond with Chao Kung-tao, a rough-around-the-edges, foul-mouthed local rickshaw driver who helps her navigate a dangerous, heavily policed society built on fear, silence, and corruption.'

This super fluffy style of scrambled eggs is known as “Cloud Eggs” (云朵炒蛋). The secret is to whisk the eggs thoroughly — many people add a bit of warm water or milk to create more airiness. Cook them over medium heat with gentle pushing motions to build beautiful layers, then cover the pan and let them steam. The steam creates tiny air pockets that make the eggs puff up dramatically, giving them a light, soufflé-like texture that’s incredibly soft and spongy. They also soak up sauces much better than regular scrambled eggs. When you lift the lid, it looks like a “rolling sea of clouds.” Just note that it may deflate slightly once the lid is off — but that’s totally normal!

Proof of Talk@proofoftalk

Nearly a decade in institutional finance. Full-time Web3 since 2020. Now building the first Canton-native institutional payment stablecoin. Luis Cuello, Founder and CEO of @tryMinted, takes the Proof of Talk stage this June. Luis started in institutional finance across fund administration, investor relations, and M&A at BNP Paribas and Johnson & Johnson. He made the full-time jump to Web3 in 2020 and went on to advise OKX on institutional trading infrastructure. Now he's building @tryMinted, the company behind mUSD and smUSD, a Canton-native stablecoin and institutional yield engine designed around diversified credit strategies and built to be GENIUS Act compliant from day one. He's also a founder with a successful exit and the top content creator on the Canton Network (@TrenchWeb3), where he's been shaping the conversation around what institutional-grade DeFi actually looks like on Canton. On June 2–3 at the Louvre Palace, Luis joins the Proof of Talk Canton Track to talk about what it takes to build payment and yield infrastructure that institutions will actually use, and why Canton is the network he chose to build it on. Passes are moving. tickets.proofoftalk.io/passes

You are raising an important point. Actually all Zenith Stack chains, including Zenith EVM, the reference instance operated by Zenith, are designed to be cross-composable and can settle atomically to Canton. This is possible because all Zenith Stack chains have their Daml contract on Canton, which registers incoming txs triggering an EVM event on the specific instance, calls out to the Solidity contracts deterministically using the external_call() primitive we built in Daml, triggers native EVM execution, receives results, and settles the new state root. Since all EVM events for all instances are routed through Canton, when you have a tx between two Zenith instances, Canton will also act as the coordinator. The Canton validators hosting instance A's Daml contract and instance B's Daml contract will all be involved as parties in the tx. The native Canton tx including the EVM payloads can have multiple external calls in its operation tree, and therefore the two legs on the two EVM instances will be executed and settled atomically within the same single Canton tx. This way you can actually have composability and atomic settlement on Canton across Zenith instances as well.

Zenith
Zenith@ZenithFdn·
Zenith is two things, and the distinction matters. Zenith EVM is the reference environment operated by Zenith directly. The entry point for developers wanting to deploy Solidity on @CantonNetwork immediately: full tooling compatibility, atomic composability with Canton subnets, one RPC configuration change and you're live. Zenith Stack is the framework for enterprises and institutions to launch their own customizable EVM environments. Custom tokens, fee structures, and compliance parameters, entirely within the operator's domain. Each environment maintains full Ethereum equivalence while remaining atomically composable with Canton and other Zenith Stack chains simultaneously. And the composability extends further. A single transaction can span multiple parallel Zenith Stack instances and Canton subnets in a single atomic operation. Every leg succeeds or the entire transaction fails with no partial execution risk. One stack, every use case. Zth.

@TrenchWeb3 @CantonNetwork @CantonFdn Luis, incredible video and I love you bringing Szabo's original paper back into the conversation! You said at one point that "there's another point CT likes to **glaze over**" rather than "gloss over" and that made me laugh. Keep it up man!

In 1994 Nick Szabo invented smart contracts. We were told Ethereum delivered that vision. I read the 1996 paper. They built the opposite. @CantonNetwork made it a reality. Here's how. 👇 @CantonFdn $CC

@blade_nd really impressive!! how do you guys make up for the burn with featured app markers? do you receive those rewards only at the poolparty address? or is there another source of revenue that makes the overall operation of the protocol profitable?
