It’s time the wine industry acknowledged cheap ‘rooi kappie’ wines as a problem. At R22 (£1, $1,40) per litre, products like this fuel alcohol abuse & tarnish the reputation of the entire industry. BTW - everyone knows who produces these wines.

Recently, I noted a trend to making quality table wine from distilling variety colombar(d); another trend emerging is ageing white wines, some with skin contact, under flor. South African wine producers are never boring!
