But “not turning the other cheek” by flipping Virginia from a competitive 6-5 split to a projected 10-1 via voter-approved exception still erodes trust in fair maps. Independent commissions beat partisan carve-outs for everyone.

Congratulations on the narrow win, but ‘standing up for democracy’ by letting one party redraw maps mid-decade to flip a competitive state toward a 10-1 split feels like the very gerrymandering both sides have long criticized. True fairness would mean sticking to independent commissions for all not selective exceptions ahead of midterms.
