@ShehabKhan At 18 aren’t you an adult, why should your parents be penalised for you wanting to go to uni. Lower income students get bigger maintenance loans, likely making life easier at uni. Just because parents have higher incomes doesn’t mean they don’t have higher outgoings (mtg etc)

@Abtisam_Mohamed Will she be foregoing some of her salary, if I claimed burnout, I’d be signed off sick on SSP?
English

Should we really put our work before our health? Reading some of the negativity around this, you would assume so.
Burnout is real, and stepping away when things become too much is the right thing to do. Politics is relentless, so nobody should be criticised for taking time to recover and protect their wellbeing.
Wishing @carla_denyer all the best and hoping she takes the time she needs ❤️

Following my doctor’s advice, I am taking some time away from work for health reasons. My office will be functioning as usual and my staff are there to support all my constituents who need help, so please don't hesitate to get in touch. See my full statement below.

@elonmusk can we have an option in the UK whereby we can bulk block everyone with the initials MP after their name, so we don’t have listen to them spouting rubbish all the time?
English

@PDJSwallow Why do MPs think anyone is actually interested in what they do at a weekend? It’s pure self promotion driven by ego, “look at me, isn’t my life wonderful”. They clearly don’t care about the constituents & their problems, it’s all about me, me, me
English

@mhclg Not sure wher you live, but Worcester, Hereford, centre of Birmingham, the state of the roads is appalling, I’d even go as far as saying they are actually dangerous
English

@leo_leo_X What about all the abhorrent comments made over the years about Maggie, is that OK because she was a Tory? They’re politicians & their gender shouldn’t come into it
English

@leo_leo_X I suspect he would have shouted if the Chancellor was a man; are you saying the Chancellor should be treated differently because she’s a woman?
English

@benonwine Why are we hearing all the details about this trial but not of another one involving alleged arson against property owned by the PM as it’s restricted?
English

Heartbreaking and deeply disturbing details are continuing to emerge during the trial of Vickrum Digwa, the man accused of murdering Polish-British student Henry Nowak.
Jurors have now been shown mobile phone footage of the confrontation that ended with a young man losing his life.
Digwa told the court he was carrying a 21cm kirpan a Sikh ceremonial blade worn around his neck and claimed he feared Henry would use it against him.
“I thought I had to do something because I was afraid that he was going to stab me with my own kirpan,” he said.
But the court also heard that Henry Nowak was trying to escape.
According to the evidence presented, Henry attempted to flee for his life, climbing over a fence while Digwa was allegedly still stabbing him.
One of the most shocking details heard by the jury is that police initially handcuffed Henry as he lay on the ground bleeding out, after Digwa reportedly claimed Henry was the aggressor and had made racist remarks.
The court also heard allegations that Digwa’s mother, Kiran Kaur, 53, removed the kirpan from the scene after the stabbing. She denies assisting an offender.
At the centre of all this is a young man who never came home.
A son.
A friend.
A life gone forever.
And every new detail emerging from this case is leaving people across the country horrified and heartbroken.
Imagine Henry’s family hearing that he was allegedly restrained while fighting for his life. Heartbreaking beyond words. Cases like this destroy public trust because people feel catastrophic mistakes are never properly acknowledged and this is why the police should be investigated and held to account for there massive failings and incompetence in Henry’s brutal murder, that’s not anti-police it’s about making sure every emergency response is fair, competent and focused on saving lives and that clearly didn’t happen in Henry’s case.

@DavidLammy Talent & hard work, not ego & unmerited self belief, is what should determine success

As the first Black Lord Chancellor, I’m determined to widen opportunity, break down barriers, and ensure talent, not background, determines success.

@helloKi30596224 You try debating with an MP, you never get to see them around until it’s election time & they refuse to debate on X, happily posting propaganda but refusing to debate it, or worse, blocking responses. It’s almost as if they don’t want to hear opposing views as they know best
English

@georgeeaton Good manners? A bit rich from someone who sits in the House of Commons, have you seen PMQs recently ?
English

Good on Rachel Reeves, our elected politicians shouldn’t take abuse of this kind lying down.

@Keir_Starmer Is it government by X these days? We have minister after minister tweeting about what good they are doing; i assume it is a government propaganda department, no doubt paid for by the taxpayer, that is spouting all this nonsense, if not ministers have too much time on their hands
English

@lukeakehurst Call me old fashioned but shouldn’t kids come first, the mother clearly prioritises the daily commute. It’s as if children are accessories, drop off early in the morning, pick up late in the evening, why not just send to boarding school, they wouldn’t be an inconvenience then
English

This attack on Breakfast Clubs from a Reform council leader is ignorant. Breakfast clubs aren't just about nutrition, they mean the child is more ready for formal classroom learning as they have already been in a school environment for c45 mins. They enable working parents to get to work earlier and earn more. And having visited some in my constituency it is obvious the children enjoy being there!
Linden Kemkaran@LeaderofKCC
Sorry, call me old fashioned but I believe it’s the parents’ job to give their child the best possible start to the school day.

@DennyTWright @WasAcop Only self employed, not Ltd companies. It is quite possible to wind the company up & never file any accounts at Companies House
English

🚨Angela Rayner has taken £197,500 in private donations labelled “for staffing costs” — £150,000 of which came from Refrigeration House Ltd — all paid into her new company.
In the official Register she only declares:
• Who gave it
• How much
• When
• “Towards staffing”
That’s literally it.
She does not have to reveal:
• How many extra staff it employs
• What they’re paid
• Tax, NI, holiday pay or sick pay
• Or any spending breakdown whatsoever
Her company (The Office of Angela Rayner Limited) was only incorporated on 22 January 2026.
First accounts? Not due until 22 October 2027 — and even then, only a vague “staff costs” line plus average employee number. No full breakdown is required.
This creates a 21-month black hole where the money could be spent on personal expenses, holidays, rent — whatever.
This setup is wide open to misuse with virtually zero verification or audit.
I’m not accusing Angela Rayner of any wrongdoing — only that it is not transparent at all.
All this is on top of the full taxpayer-funded staffing budget she claims every year (currently over £113,000).
We know exactly who donated the cash.
We have zero public visibility on where it actually goes.
How is this allowed with virtually zero scrutiny?
One rule for them..

@LucyRigby I’d have far more respect for you if you just got on with the job rather than using it as a photo opportunity to promote your own ego

@lukejcr @joshsimonsmp So basically what you’re saying is that the current MP is completely useless and very unpopular.

Reform won almost all Wigan council seats up for grabs last week.
But the message from voters today was crystal clear.
Andy Burnham changes the equation.

@peterkyle Don’t you guys get it, it’s not what the governments not doing that’s the issue, it’s what they are doing that voters don’t like, & going at it faster & further will just turn more away from labour

@wesstreeting Had a fall, called ambulance, waited over 7 hrs, only to be told it would be hours more & to make our own way to a&e, (the patient couldn’t walk). You get there & have to wait 8.5 hours to see a doctor, who refers you back to GP who offers a phone follow up in 4 weeks, improved ?

@Keir_Starmer Labour are not listening to the people, why do they think Reform did so well in the local elections, people don’t want net zero, nor mass immigration, nor more taxes, nor more government control. MPs need to listen, they are meant to be representatives of the people
