@BasedMikeLee So where are the water cannons and paddy wagons? I can think of a dozen non-lethal ways to curb this behavior.

@esherifftv @RyanTanaka People largely want what they are told to want. We spent decades telling anyone under 25 having kids was akin to suicide, and followed it up by telling women that motherhood/marriage was slavery for the last 30yrs. The result is predictable.

@RyanTanaka It’s becoming more and more common sadly While I do agree it is unfortunate, I also believe if someone truly doesn’t want kids, they should NOT have them

I cannot even fathom the thought of not wanting to reproduce. This has gotta be at least half the reason to live at all.

@daniel_knauf That's a very 1980's/90's rational attitude. Sadly, there was a lot of money to be made peddling grievance and hate. When mass racism ceased to exist in reality, they started manufacturing it.

I’ll readily admit, when it comes to race, I’m not colorblind. Nobody is. But I fail to see how that is incompatible with the fact that, just as kindness, courage and intelligence comes in all colors, so do assholes.

@CSI_Starbase It almost looks like they were testing dual and single engine roll control, after they pegged the target. Or... one engine shut down early and the automated system was trying to compensate on the single remaining.

.@PalmerLuckey: American companies don't actually have engineers anymore. "American companies have been hollowed out." "We're not teaching engineers how to be engineers anymore." "We're not teaching designers how to actually design things to be manufactured." "We're teaching them how to be high-level design shops that put together a design package, that gets sent to the real engineers in China—and they actually figure out how to do the work." "People are turning into architecture astronauts." "They pick components, and they put them in a nominal layout." "But the real work of—how am I actually going to put this together? How am I going to build a manufacturing line to make this? How am I going to need to figure out how to do the one, two, three, four, five different revisions of this board to pass radio emissions and interference standards? That's all done in China. So they are the real engineers." Via @HooverInst

@daniel_knauf @WallStreetApes Water can be closed-loop with minimal loss. If you see who opposes data centers, you may actually support them. Hint: Arabella Advisors

Utah approved a data center so massive it's going to be more than twice the size of Manhattan It’s called The Stratus Project, it’s a AI data center campus in Box Elder County - The full project could cover over 40,000 acres, an area bigger than Manhattan - Total size will be around 62 square miles - The power demand is 3 gigawatts of electricity, roughly the output of multiple nuclear reactors - Environmental groups warn it could raise Utah's planet-heating pollution by nearly 50% - Estimates suggest the project's power systems could consume up to 16.6 billion gallons of water per year. (25,000 Olympic swimming pools) First let’s talk about power, it will actually use up to 9 GW of power. This is roughly double Utah’s current peak electricity demand. Only the first phase will use 3 GW Next let’s talk about water, Developers are now saying that they will use closed-loo dry (air-based) cooling systems to minimize consumption. But it’ll still use a lot of water This is bad news for water conservation. Utah is in drought conditions, the Great Salt Lake is shrinking. It’s visible and you can see it right now So why do we need this really, according to what I can find it’s going to be tied with defense contracts The data center will be tied to US defense priorities. It overlaps with Department of Defense areas and is advanced through Utah’s Military Installation Development Authority. Officials cite needs for energy resilience, secure computing power, and data storage for defense operations So this is a private data center but it’s not really a private data center…. Because it’ll be working with the government. One layer removed…

That would be industry dependent. Manufacturing? Not impossible, but not clearly a boon. If you are hunting down issues "As built" vs "As operated" vs "As designed".... AI doesn't give you a ton of insight. It's just a slog through prints, the system, and the people, to find out where the pooch got pounded first. (Because the first wave of attempted 'repairs' were certainly done before you as SME ever got called in.)

I've been That Guy™ when a Subject Matter Expert shows up and after I perform a perfunctory shit-test to make sure it's not a credentialist talking through their hat, the next thing I do is - I ask as many questions as I possibly can. Because new info is AMAZING. The other kind of nerd does the opposite - they scream, piss their pants and ban.
Captain Doombeard@CDoombeard

@planefag I'm trying to think of any topics I'm a fuckhead about. Because I'm a huge nerd and I have Opinions(tm) about things. But I don't throw those opinions around or stake anything on them. So... I dunno.

🚨Read this absolute piss-take of a trial regarding the brutalisation of Henry nowak … ‘The judge, William Mousley KC, told the jury that he had ordered Digwa to face a charge of manslaughter as an alternative to the murder charge.’ Manslaughter ?!!!! He was stabbed in the back of both legs and stabbed through the chest with a 21cm blade We need trials for these judges , absolute traitors to their people. It gets better … He claims Henry racially abused him , punched him and knocked of his turban. He said then in ‘self defence’ , he stabbed nowak in the back of both legs then…. Did not realise he thrust a 21cm blade through his chest There’s more , in response to this . That piece of shit judge said this "If a person may not have deliberately have caused the fatal injury or may not have intended to kill or cause reasonably serious harm, he or she is not guilty of murder.” HE WAS STABBED IN THE BACK OF THE LEGS TO STOP HIM RUNNING AWAY 🤬 This was clearly intentional Judge William wasn’t done their though he told the jury … ‘do not allow any feelings of sympathy , your decision must be unbiased’ Yeah the whole thing sounds real unbiased Absolute fucking bullshit We need body cam footage and real justice If this is normalised, it sets the premise that you can murder white people and get away with it if you claim racism bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

@BradRTorgersen @VNextJim This is an accurate portrayal of most "tactical" classes. The old Gabe Suarez and and others were around 20 years ago with similar levels of antics. It's tough and expensive to find a good trainer.

BREAKING: Father says he ‘WILL K*LL’ the man who broke into his Kentucky home and st*bbed his six-year-old boy to death after he was released from prison having served just half his sentence The boy’s father says, “I’ve had my talks with God… I told the court if I ever cross paths with him, I will k*ll the man — I will k*ll him where he stands.” Ronald Exantus, 42, was released early from prison for good behavior He m*rdered Logan Tipton and severely injured his father and two young sisters Exantus entered the home through an unlocked door on the night of December 6, 2015 Logan was st*bbed repeatedly in the head so forcefully that the knife blade bent Exantus was sentenced to 20 years in 2018 after being found not guilty by reason of insanity for the m*rder and guilty but mentally ill on the assault charges
