"Hurt" is not an original by Johnny Cash. The song was written by Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) in 1994 for the album The Downward Spiral. Rick Rubin had to insist several times on Cash recording his version, at first Johnny found the idea completely insane because the original version is industrial and noisy. At 71, already very ill, almost blind and with trembling hands, Cash completely transformed the band. The iconic video, directed by Mark Romanek, was filmed at the House of Cash (his own museum). June Carter Cash appears looking at him fondly, the video was shot in February 2003, a few months before she died (May) and Johnny himself (September). Trent Reznor was so moved that he declared, "This song is not mine anymore." It is considered one of the best covers of all time.

@harukaawake I’m in the states, and I have an American flag on my porch. And I know what you mean. I feel the same way. There is something about seeing the flag of your own country flying proud that stirs something in you, for sure.

@ai_saboru_tech Princess Mononoke. My niece grew up with studio ghibli movies instead of Disney. Ponyo and Kiki’s delivery service were her favorites. I have seen them both dozens of times. You know how kids are. 😆I have an entire collection of all the ghibli movies I could find now.

@ThrillaRilla369 They don’t have to eat it. I can appreciate people choosing not to eat certain foods for whatever reason, and I’ll respect that choice by not pushing them to do so. I would expect them to respect that I made a different choice. And that choice is equally valid.

To those considering moving to Japan, let me be honest with you. Last week, a 300-year-old shrine in Niigata burned down. It wasn't the first. Shrines, pig farms, graveyards, set on fire and desecrated. Things we've quietly protected for centuries are disappearing, one after another. If you cannot honor our gods, please don't come. If you cannot eat pork, please don't come. If you cannot accept cremation, please don't come. This is a sincere request from us. If you come to Japan, you will be unhappy, and so will we.

@tanpukunokami I would suggest trying a few types of peanut butter. I personally grew up with jif, but different people enjoy different varieties more. Snickers has a good natural version, and I would like to add my vote to the peanut butter on celery suggestion as well.

@learning_yohei Most people I know say movies. But I would say the ones calling it a film are probably people who are movie critics or people in the industry. So I guess I would say it’s a difference of a casual versus professional, in my opinion.

When you spend years not only erasing and mocking everything that people connected with in the first place, and on top of that gaslighting and vilifying the fans for not responding positively to that, one or two movies will not resurrect the brand.

Disney is about to delete five years of canon because Rey doesn't move toys. The sequel trilogy did $4.47B at the box office. Force Awakens $2.07B, Last Jedi $1.33B, Rise of Skywalker $1.07B. The merchandise tells a different story. Star Wars merchandise peaked at $700M in 2015 when Force Awakens launched. By 2019, the year Rise of Skywalker shipped with a billion-dollar marketing push as the supposed finale of the Skywalker Saga, Hasbro's Star Wars line was doing roughly $150M. A 70%+ collapse during the trilogy's own theatrical run. Then 2020 happened. No new movies. A streaming show legally unavailable in most international markets. Hasbro's Star Wars revenue grew 70% year-over-year. One character named Grogu outsold three years of sequel-trilogy merchandise. The sequel cast specifically can't move inventory at any price point. Rey, Finn, Poe, Rose, Holdo: Walmart clearance for years. Diamond Select's president said sales on TFA and TLJ products "were not too strong." Hasbro silently stopped producing Rise of Skywalker figures mid-line. There is no mass-market action figure for Poe, Finn, Lando, unmasked Kylo, Palpatine, or Leia from that movie. The licensees gave up before the trilogy finished releasing. The Lucasfilm acquisition was a $4.05B bet on the merchandise flywheel that built modern Hollywood toy licensing. Kenner's best year selling Original Trilogy toys, adjusted for inflation, outperformed the entire Disney era combined. That's the asset Disney bought. Galaxy's Edge runs the same play. Over $1B per park to build a Star Wars land set on a sequel-era planet nobody cared about. Both parks underperformed projections. The Mandalorian-themed expansion now under construction is the admission. If the rumor lands, this is the most expensive retcon in entertainment history. Five years of IP development written off because the licensees voted with their order books. Luke, Han, Leia, Vader, Boba, Mando, Grogu, Ahsoka generate revenue. The sequel cast generates returns.
