German society is something requiring demographic correction, according to Labour Minister Bärbel Bas, says Eugyppius. We are ruled by people who hold their own nations in contempt, if not outright hatred. dailysceptic.org/2026/05/27/ger…

I struggle to disagree with Tony Blair on Radio 4 this morning if I’m honest However where his big picture thinking falls down is that five year terms mean leaders lacking in courage won’t plan for long term instead governing week by week with the end goal being polling day

New Labour was literally built on the belief the party needed a charismatic, youthful leader who could specifically position himself in a place on the political spectrum that would enable him to take votes from the Tories.
Sophy Ridge@SophyRidgeSky

It's hard to argue with this from Tony Blair: "Governments which succeed don't start with a personality contest. Or a political question - as in how do we "save the country" from Reform. They start with an idea, a project, a governing purpose"

This is the incredible thing. Restore are literally running the Reform playbook page by page. And Reform are acting like they've never seen it before.

The Government is definitely up to something. Asylum caseworkers tell me they are awaiting large numbers of cases but hardly any are coming through. Where are they? Where are you hiding them - and why? @ukhomeoffice Misusing official data to mask terrible failure.
Home Office@ukhomeoffice

Asylum decisions have quadrupled. The asylum backlog is now down from its peak of 175,000 to 49,000 people awaiting a decision - the lowest level since 2019. More decisions mean more asylum hotel closures and more illegal migrants removed or deported.

Can someone remind us what Shabana Mahmood’s £662m deal with France was actually meant to be for? Because on Friday, almost 400 people crossed the Channel in small boats. Six boats. Hot weather. Children carried through the sea off Gravelines. Migrants landing at Dover in life jackets. And Britain once again left receiving the consequences while ministers boast about “cooperation”. This is the same pattern EVERY time. A crisis escalates. The Government announces a “landmark deal”. Taxpayers are told hundreds of millions more must be sent to France. Ministers pose for photographs. Officials talk about drones, patrols, intelligence units, riot-trained police and “smashing the gangs”. Then the weather improves and the boats come anyway. So what are we actually buying? Deterrence? Interception? Prevention? Or just another press release with a gigantic price tag? The public were told this money would help stop dangerous crossings. Yet within weeks we are watching people wade into the Channel again while smugglers exploit the first clear window. This is not control. It is managed failure at public expense.

To get this interview on @GBNEWS in the protected period ahead of the Makerfield by-election, we read out the immigration policies of the other main parties on the channel, as well as the list of candidates standing in the Makerfield by-election, straight after the interview. We are hoping to speak to all of the candidates before June 18 (cc @MichaelLCrick).
