UPDATE: I’m really struggling to call what happens next On one hand, Trump needs an off-ramp to limit the global economic damage and growing domestic political pressure Iran would also like this war to end before more cities are leveled and more leaders are killed On the other hand, Iran is doing surprisingly well controlling the Strait, striking the Gulf and Israel, and selling oil for more than twice the price than before the war, making a killing And on the American side, troops are heading to the region for what increasingly looks like a ground operation to control Hormuz Negotiations are the most promising development since February 28th. But Iran's warnings to Gulf nations against supporting any ground operation, combined with maximalist demands from both sides, make a deal unlikely in the short term

🚨🇮🇷🇺🇸 Trump: "You can't let a madman or a mad ideology have a nuclear weapon. It started with the b-2 bombers, which made it impossible for them to do the nuclear. If we didn't do that, they would have right now a nuclear weapon and would have used it" x.com/Acyn/status/20…

🚨🇹🇷🇮🇷 Turkish oil tanker “Altura” attacked in the Black Sea by drones. The vessel was carrying 140,000 tons of Russian crude oil from Novorossiysk and is under EU/UK sanctions. Strike damaged the upper deck and engine room, with water ingress reported. This war is insidious, and it keeps spreading. Source: @visegrad24

🇮🇷🇺🇸 Iran’s FM Araghchi just went nuclear on U.S. troops in the Gulf: “From the outset of this war, U.S. soldiers fled military bases in GCC countries to hide in hotels and offices. They use GCC citizens as human shields.” He even said GCC hotels should deny bookings to U.S. officers, as the very U.S. does in its own home. Source: @araghchi / New York Times
