Gm🍁 - Today I’m thankful for a great many things. First and foremost I’m grateful for my beautiful fiancée @nudity_slip and the fact she said yes to me this year and spends every day being the most amazing partner I can imagine. And to my family and hers who are all so supportive of our current travels and process! It’s been a genuinely remarkable year with so many twists and turns, and I’m happy to be alive and well and also to be here with you all. I’m in the process of “onboarding” a new art collector into our space, a fellow @Azuki btw. We often mention onboarding like it’s a business procedure but really it’s just been about creating a new friendship and allowing my genuine excitement and knowledge around art and the journey of collecting spill into our conversation. We are all lucky to be here at this time and space, and I will leave a segment of our conversation from earlier today here because I think it’s organic and pertinent to the holiday! - “ One more note today about art. Aside from the concept of “collecting what you like” or “collecting for value” I believe that the journey of collecting art presents a unique opportunity to grow as a human, and also as a couple. Take for instance being confronted with art that puts you off. Maybe it’s political, or vulgar or creepy or maybe you can’t quite put your finger on it. At those times we are given the chance to question ourselves. We can zoom out and wonder, even if subconsciously, “why don’t I like that?” And when we begin to really get into the groove of collecting, we have clearly defined what we do like and what we do value, and even maybe why we like and value it, and this is also good intel. The truth is, we are all here remembering ourselves, our true essence. And those of us who pay forward the value of buying art from artists and sponsoring their journey, receive the reward of being deeply intertwined with this creative, novel aspect of the human experience first hand. We interact with all of this art and it transforms us into deeper, more interesting and more thoughtful people. “ - Anyways, thought you’d like to hear about art collecting from a collectors perspective.
