@Rehtnug62 You mentioned inventions that did NOT take away human abilities. Self driving takes away skills, and children will even decrease brain development. But don't worry: tik-tok scrolling and generative artificial intelligence used by children is much, much worse!

German TV shows how Tesla is testing FSD in real world to support public transport in rural areas. Impressive! 👏👍 youtube.com/watch?v=hfjVGk… By the way: I myself had a fsd test ride in Frankfurt, Germany on March 24th - flawless! 🤗👏💪

I have a really dumb question: Why can't we just have a flat tax rate for every person? And get rid of the stupid deductions, etc? Just have everyone pay the same rate in the U.S.? It would save us from so many damn problems. And all these idiotic arguments.

@CorpFin_Guy @CorbinSmithNFL I admit, I could’ve used a more nominal amount and my math was wrong. But I think my point still stands marginal utility is a real thing.

This is so stupid. If you make $20k you can’t afford housing, hospital bill etc… If someone makes $20k they are receiving assistance for everything, they are not a net payer of taxes. I knew your argument was going to be awesome when you started by saying 20% of $20k was $2k. You should probably keep to the Canadian arguments

@LoughlinCody @CorbinSmithNFL This is the facade of a flat tax system. In practice that $4000 has way more utility for someone earning $20k, versus someone earning $1B. Look up Marginal Utility.

@ABarghelame @CorbinSmithNFL Yes. A lot of countries do this and, turns out that’s also a bad idea. You’d need a high tax rate, and you still wouldn’t break even and end up implementing a progressive tax system alongside anyway.

@jay_pnw @BoardObserver @CorbinSmithNFL My bad. $4000. This just proves my point even harder. But you knew that and chose to pick on a math mistake instead of getting the point. It’s called Marginal Utility.

I completely agree with your take but I’m too stupid to see the difference. I don’t use AI as deftly as enthusiasts and coders do. I’ve been using Grok to do scripting for me. Seems to work fine so far. This must mean that a lot, maybe enough people use it the way I do and they’ve been able to get by. Given that they’ve been at this for a lot less time than everyone else, and also because literally OpenAI pressed reset on Elon’s progress in February 2018, they are making astounding headway and iterating quickly. Including this new wave of hiring and firings.

"The turnover at XAi is normal" is complete BS. For fans who support the most truth seeking model, it's ironic that they don't speak the truth when it comes to shortcomings in Elons companies. Grok is clearly behind. Anyone want to debate that? -Grok does not deliver the same user experience as other models. It gets things wrong often for me. It hilariously doesn't even have memory in voice mode. Also it always gets my location wrong no matter how many times I correct it. Grok doesn't actually DO anything. It will answer some questions. But Claude, ChatGPT, and even Perplexity actually DO things for me and help take tasks off of my plate. The most useful thing Grok does its fact check claims on X. Also, who uses Grok for coding? I started talking about Xai having problems and now it's clear that is correct. Clearly I'm not an AI expert, but you don't have to be to see the writing on the wall. Stop with the "Elon is the best at absolutely everything" crap. Seriously it's like you guys are in a cult. This is crazy coming from me because I totally love Elon and think he is the most important person on the planet. But I have integrity and the ability to see the world isn't black and white. Being wrong in something doesn't have to threaten your position on everything.

OK, so truth be told I’m very close to pulling the trigger on one of these Cybertrucks. One of the only things holding me back is the lack of the rear light bar because to me it is quintessential Cybertruck and adds an element of safety in poor visibility conditions. Does anyone know if the rear light bar can be retrofitted onto a truck that was built without it?

Everything you’ve said is incorrect. Including the fact that you think it’s ugly. I for one think it looks fucking badass, and everyone else is wrong. Furthermore, I don’t know if you’ve test driven one, but I have and it’s crazy good. The problem is that Electric trucks as a category struggle for mass adoption due to high prices. Across all models for sale today, the cybertruck is #1 or #2 (Ford F150 Lightning being its closest competitor by sales, which has now been discontinued.) This category is a tough nut to crack and Tesla is going to try again with its newest configuration at this new price point.

@SawyerMerritt @elonmusk would literally sell cybercabs at a loss just to get @MKBHD to shave his head for the memes. @Tesla will make its money back on the fares. They did this with Xbox to sell Xbox Live, PlayStation with PlayStation+ Amazon Kindle… I’m sure there’s more examples.

@PlixoSgp @RoaringRagnar @wholemars Even putting aside the $3/day, just the allocation of time to do low-skilled low-value labour in an economy as big and advanced as the US is an incredible waste of human capital/labour.

It is not advantageous for the United States to make *everything* domestically. Our resources are limited and scarce. Dedicating labor and capital to producing low value commodities can often come at the expense of higher value production.

This is 100% correct. Being “self sufficient” is a red herring and is an inefficient use of your time. If you are capable of making advanced software, robotics, rockets, etc, you (as a country) should not waste your time making tshirts, or shoes, or, in this example, the metal for cribs. Just because you are capable of it, doesn’t mean you should actually do it. You should foster productive trade relationships with other countries which will benefit both economies.

Suppose you have 100 workers making baby cribs. Each crib costs $50 in parts and labor and sells for $100, yielding a profit of $50 per crib. Since each worker can produce one crib per hour, the company earns $5,000 in profit per hour. Now imagine it becomes illegal or too expensive to import the metal used in these cribs. Instead, you must produce the metal in-house. Assume producing one unit of metal takes an hour and costs $25—$20 in parts and $5 in labor. To keep the crib production running, you need to allocate enough workers to produce the metal required for each crib. For instance, if each crib requires 50 units of metal, then 50 of the 100 workers must be reassigned to make metal. This leaves only 50 workers making cribs. Consequently, the company now produces 50 cribs per hour, netting 50 × $50 = $2,500 in profit—half the profit of the original arrangement. The change also affects wages. Originally, all 100 workers earned a combined wage of 100 × $25 = $2,500 per hour. Under the new setup, the 50 crib-makers still earn $25 each (totaling $1,250), while the 50 metal workers earn $5 each (totaling $250). The total wage bill now is $1,250 + $250 = $1,500 per hour—$1,000 less than before. In this scenario, by trying to “make everything ourselves,” we produce fewer cribs, reduce total wages, and make less profit. Trade allows us to focus our limited resources—like labor—on where they create the most value.

People keep forgetting that the difference between $1 Million and $1 Billion is incomprehensible. If you made $1 every second, it would take you 11.57 days or so to make $1 Million. For $1 Billion, you’d have to wait 31.71 years. On the other end of the spectrum there are only approximately 2800 billionaires in the world out of 8.21 billion people. That’s only 0.000034% of people. Also a mind boggling lot small number. Tax policy, as a necessity, has to be more nuanced and carefully crafted according to income brackets or whatever so that not only can people afford to live with dignity, but also to foster better goods and services that raise the standard of living for everyone.

@Courtney_Frazi @thecavedaddy What you fail to realize is that the uber rich pay less in taxes (as a percentage) than us peasants with our “progressive” tax system because they use all the loopholes their political puppets keep open. A flat tax would actually even the playing field, believe it or not

Why is everyone so against a flat tax for everyone ? 5% across the board, no tax codes to help someone cheat, nothing else. You just pay 5% whether you make $1000 or $10,000,000,000.

No it wouldn’t. @Courtney_Frazi is right. A flat tax, as unintuitive as it may seem, disproportionately affects poorer people because spending does not scale linearly as you get richer after a certain point, and in fact plateaus the more and more money you make. Goods and services are incentivized to scale according to their TAM. So if you’re a billionaire and even if you only spend money on the most luxurious things, you still wouldn’t be able to spend all your money, but poorer people literally have to choose between food and keeping the lights on because their spending requires a higher percentage of their income.
