Congress member for 48 hours! Former AMSU president Rejaul Karim Sarkar, who had joined Congress on January 11, has resigned from the party barely 60 hours of his much hyped joining. This followed after opposition leader Debabrata Saikia called him as agent of CM Himanta Biswa Sarma. His joining mired into controversy after his joining speech faced criticism from organisations of Upper Assam and also from within the Congress.

It has been observed that a statement made by Sri Rezaul Karim Sarkar, the recently resigned President of the All Assam Minorities Students' Union (AAMSU), who joined the Indian National Congress Party today, is being deliberately misrepresented by certain individuals through social media platforms. In reality, Mr Sarkar had only spoken about uniting the Upper and Lower Assam regions as well bridging the Barak& Brahmaputra divide to build a "Bor Axom" based on unity and harmony. However, some politically motivated individuals are attempting to distort his statement and wrongly propagate the profound meaning of his complete statement among the public. The Assam Pradesh Congress strongly condemns such vile and divisive politics.
