@TheAhmadOsman War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength.
oh wait, we don't believe any of that.
how about we democratize a lot of super capable AI, and then we sit back and watch you build the future?
The difference between Anthropic and OpenAI is that one of them consistently keeps gaslighting us about not being an evil company
Big brother energy in the worst possible way
@devXritesh Fun fact: Earlier apprenticeship model used to work, post WW2, there was a sudden demand in the industry, and a lot of people were required. College then became a basic filter. Not only because it was easy, but also because companies wanted predictability..
@devXritesh It was a signal that a candidate shows up, follows rules and socialize well. Right now, with people valuing portfolio over degrees, I think we're returning back to the apprenticeship models.
Unpopular opinion:
I’d hire a self-taught developer as Tech Lead over a college grad any day.
Self-taught devs have shipped real products, debugged under pressure, and actually understand production pain.
College grads know theory.
Who would you hire as Tech Lead?
Self-taught or College Grad?

bigger ticking time bomb than the Y2K bug:
the software crisis 2.0
except the previous software crisis never really ended, it's just about to get a whole lot bigger driven by vibe coding
@owen_venter Try debugging some complex issues or reduce memory or latency in your program. When claude will start hallucinating, your flow state will be back.
Programming used to put me into FLOW state often. That’s a big part of why I fell in love with it. Late night missions building games, apps, whatever, it felt great.
Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi has a great quote on this:
“The best moments in our lives… occur when a person’s body or mind is stretched to its limits in a voluntary effort to accomplish something difficult or worthwhile.”
AI has kind of nuked the personal challenge part of that. I don’t fall into those same FLOW states nearly as often anymore. It’s a strange position to be in because I’m undeniably more productive, but some of the joy is gone. I still love building software, but now the enjoyment comes more from seeing products come to life and have real-world impact than from the actual process of writing the code.
I’ll miss the deep flow states that came from fighting code for hours into the night, but I feel like I do need to find new areas that still offer that same sense of challenge.
Why are we able to select dark theme options, even after turning dark mode off?
Is it a feature? Because, I don't see any differences.
