I spent >70% of my time aiming for Bay Area startups at the beginning.
However, after talking to ~20 startups, I realized there were barely any that truly matched what I want to do, felt meaningful, and honestly better than MSR.
Some opportunities just didn’t feel as compelling as building something on my own, and some of the ones I really liked just weren’t hiring or didn’t reply to me.
It really felt like dating in a super noisy market, so I went back to doing research for now.
Will think about new grad later :)
