I was pleased to meet with the Bodaboda leaders from the Kampala Metropolitan area today at Kololo. They represent 102 Saccos and I have contributed a total of Uganda Shillings 10.2 billion—100 million for each Sacco. These SACCOs are not for the Rich Business people "Abagagga" who are looking for profits but rather the motorcycle riders specifically intended to empower them. Secondly, this money should not be given to money lenders, as their exorbitant interest rates are unacceptable. it should be used to pay for the value of the motorcycle the way it is. I emphasized that loans should only be issued at an annual interest rate of 6%. This rate is not meant for profit but is intended to combat inflation. I will formalize this in writing, and anyone who defies it will face legal consequences.

For those who are struggling with English there is a difference between QUIET and SILENT! Silent means no noise or sound. Quiet means low noise. You can actually speak quietly! I am saying this in sympathy with parents who paid school fees but the children remained illiterate!

This young man, now an officer with Parliament of Uganda, has resurrected this photo taken 30 years ago in 1995 when I was their House Captain at Kigezi High School. When I was elected a prefect for Bwankosya House, a key commitment of my tenure was to end teasing & harassment of young boys and new comers in our dormitory. Senior one students often faced a tough time, with older boys sometimes harassing them, grabbing their grab and forcing them to wash clothes, carry food, forcing them to dance with no music playing etc etc. This young man, Herbert, like his friends, Emmanuel, Bruce and other boys who were coming from Kampala & other distant schools, often run to me for protection, and turned me into a bank of sorts, keeping their grab and pocket money with me for fear of big boys stealing it. It gives me joy meeting these once young boys, now all grown and adding value to whichever callings they have chosen and looking back with joy and pleasant nostalgia.
