Appreciate advances in fetal medicine, healthcare technologies, politics, economics, and a good cappuccino.

AI vs. doctors for diagnosis of >300 complex cases. AI had 4x higher accuracy with 20% lower cost.

Aid for Israeli families in crisis A number of folks have asked me about what orgs are on the ground helping Israeli families repair homes, get food/supplies, etc. We're fundraising for 3 orgs doing the hard/thankless work. I'll match up to the first $18,000. Link in comments.

Imagine being a Jewish student at Princeton University and walking around campus seeing this …

💥 IF YOU ARE AN ACADEMIC RESEARCHER, COME TO ISRAEL! 🇮🇱🇮🇱 700+MM NIS PLAN TO BRING ACADEMIC RESEARCHERS TO ISRAEL. DETAILS BELOW: Today, Israel announced two critical programs to increase scientific research in Israel: · OR (Light or Energy) - Targets star researchers at the peak of their careers who will come do research in Israel. · Bereshit (Genesis) - Invites Young and promising researchers after their postdoctoral studies to do research in Israel Structure and application: a. The programs will be implemented by the Israel Science Foundation, headed by Professor Daniel Zajfman (former president of the Weizmann Institute). This is important. This will not be run by the government but rather an independent body with a world renowned academic at the helm. b. Researchers will selected in a competitive process by an international selection committee. c. A total of 23 new researchers will be selected annually in the two programs (as detailed below). d. Total investment in the program is NIS 730 million over seven years. OR (Outstanding Research) Program Details The program is designed to bring back outstanding researchers at the peak of their careers. 1. 8 winners per year 2. Each winner receives a total of approximately NIS 1.5 million per year for 7 years. In the humanities, the award is slightly smaller. 3.Distribution of funds for each year: NIS 1.25 million will be granted through the Council for Higher Education as a research grant won by the researcher; NIS 250,000 will be granted as a personal absorption grant. 4. In total, the researcher receives approximately NIS 10.5 million during his entire period, which will be used for research and living stipend. The researcher can receive other grants as well. Structure of the Bereshit (Genesis) Program: The program is designed to bring back leading postdoctoral fellows who have completed their studies abroad to research institutions in Israel. 1. 15 winners per year. 2. Each winner receives NIS 800,000 per year for five years. Of this, a research grant of NIS 700,000 per year and a personal grant of NIS 100,000 per year. 3. In addition, the winners receive (according to research needs and approval of the selection committee) a one-time equipment grant of an average of NIS 1.3 million (total budget of NIS 20 million in a given year). 4. In total, on average, a researcher receives NIS 5.3 million over five years. Kudos to Noam Dan of the Finance Ministry and Finance Minister @bezalelsm for pushing this through. Well done.

Hundreds of Jewish students at @Columbia just published one of the most incredible student letters I have ever read. It's not only magnificently written, but it also clearly articulates their experiences on campus for the past six months. Their letter tells the story of what's it like being a Jewish student right now better than any professor like myself could ever do. Please take 4-5 minutes to read their letter. Give Jewish students a voice. docs.google.com/document/u/1/d…

Nothing to see here. Other than @penn professors smiling at the same encampment with a PFLP flag…

“To watch ‘Screams Before Silence’ is to be disabused of any lingering doubts about what Hamas did,” Bret Stephens writes about a new documentary about sexual violence on and after Oct. 7. Read: nyti.ms/3WmqYFT

Wristbands are being used to identify anti-Israel students at @UCLA so that they are allowed to enter Royce Quad, Royce Hall, and Powell Library. Some students are allowed in and out, others are kept out. This is ILLEGAL and UCLA is not just tolerating it but facilitating it.
