NAMIBIA@36 | The Governor of the Ohangwena Region, Kadiva Hamutumwa, has praised the progress made by the government over the past 36 years since independence. Speaking during today's celebrations in Helao Nafidi town, Hamutumwa urged citizens to remain committed to building a prosperous nation and to continue working together for the benefit of all Namibians. She also paid tribute to the heroes and heroines of the liberation struggle, applauding their unity and resilience in the fight for freedom. Hamutumwa emphasised that it was this collective determination that ultimately led to the attainment of independence and called on the current generation to uphold the same spirit of unity and dedication. #Namibia@36 #NamIndependence2026 #NBCNews #NBCDigitalNews #NBCDSTV282 #NBCGOTV20 #nbcPlusApp

I acknowledge Her Excellency’s effort. It’s costly, tho. The responsibility should’ve been left to governors.

Of course. Plus, it's very condescending when this is said only with regards to Ohangwena. Other Governors in other regions do the same. The broader Ohangwena understands the official language, and she always mixes Oshikwanyama into her addresses for emphasis anyway.

Apparently events of this scale bring together delegations from diverse cultural backgrounds, which explains why leaders choose to speak in the official language, something I now understand and agree with.

Our Autumn 2026 Graduation Season continues. Today, UJ honours Her Excellency Monica Geingos, lawyer, entrepreneur and globally recognised advocate for health equity. Through initiatives like the One Economy Foundation and the #BeFree Movement, she has championed youth empowerment, HIV awareness and social justice across Africa. #UJHonoursGeingos #UJGraduation2026 #UJGrads2026 #UJAllTheWay @FirstLadyNam3
