Complexity is very profitable. I’ve left so much money on the table. So many opportunities where I could have kept existing complexity or introduce more (without anyone noticing or understanding) to make people depending on me. Luckily, I don’t enjoy money more than the pride in good work.

@benz145 Working on a webXR VR fitness game (hover.fit) designed by Olympians, building the Open Metaverse (rp1.com) and admiring the engine advances of wonderlandengine.com - there's still so many uncharted possibilities to come!

I feel like my XR Twitter has been dead lately, but it’s probably just the algorithm drifting. What’s everyone playing/doing lately?

@benz145 I was engrossed by Half-Life 2 when it came out. Also I played a lot of Mechwarrior 4. Also Homeworld. All these had a sense of world and story that reached beyond the gameplay.

Are there any good examples of flatscreen (non-VR) indie games that are highly immersive?

@benz145 I feel that MR experiences are intrinsically tied to the user/player's physical space - and the sheer variety of these spaces pose a tricky foundation onto which a game has to be built. VR is able dictate all visual elements, which helps predictability and immersion.

It's been two years since Quest 3's release and there's still nothing I can clearly point to as a 'killer game' for mixed reality. There's lots of 'neat' stuff, but no game I've seen yet that clearly justifies the feature. There's no doubt that MR is useful for when you want to stay in your own space, but that seems almost exclusively useful when you're doing non-game things like using flat apps or transitioning between immersive apps. Meta spent a long time pushing game developers to take risks on MR before the company itself had demonstrated it as truly compelling (reminds me a lot of the Quest Pro launch which was even further back). Star Wars: Beyond Victory is up there with the most highly produced attempts at an MR game yet, and the end result seems like the fully immersive VR portions of the game are the most compelling, while the MR portions feel like they should have just been in VR in the first place. A real shame because ILM has made some of the best VR apps to date, and this could have been another one if it hadn't been pushed to put technology before experience.

@benz145 I am relieved that VR was highlighted. Smart glasses are great but do not serve the same function as VR headsets.

In addition to ‘Dancing with the Stars’ can we get a ‘Fighting with the Stars’ where celebrities work with fight choreographers to do some sick live-action combat scenes?

@MetaQuestHelp The problem is only intermittent. So the controller will be working just fine then suddenly, the controller stops sending data, causing hands to freeze. But then resume when controller is slightly rotated back. Other times webxr immersive sessions start with no controllers found

Meta Store Help
Meta Store Help@MetaStoreHelp·
Hi there, Thank you for bringing your issue to our attention. Lets go through some troubleshooting steps to get you back into the Metaverse! - Replacing the batteries is a great step, please also ensure they are removed for at least 30 seconds and replace with brand new ones - Remove unsupported third-party accessories that may affect power, battery fit, or controller detection. For example, rechargeable grips, controller covers, etc - Check the LED status (blinking, solid, or no light at all) - Unpair and pair the controller to the headset If this issue persists, please don't hesitate to reach out via Direct Message to continue the conversation. Thanks!

Hey @MetaQuestVR - I'm getting intermittent loss of tracking on my Quest 3 controllers. Even with new batteries. Sometimes moving the controller loses tracking, other times going into a webxr immersive session detects no controllers. This happened across multiple #quest3

Not sure there’s been a holistically better action movie since. The sequels have aged better than they’re were originally given credit for, but it’s hard to beat the first chapter when you’re with the character as they figure out what’s going on. Growing up with these movies definitely contributed to me ending up in a career as a VR journalist.
All Things Movies@ThatMoviePage

Seeing this opening weekend in 1999 was a genuine life affirming moment. Tangible feeling of "what on earth was that?" from the crowd as the credits rolled.

@benz145 This would be super useful. Would there be any way to make it work on mobile browsers (that don't have the extension framework)?

I built a 'reverse scheduler' extension for Google Calendar that lets you work backward to plan your itinerary based on how much time you need to budget for the preceding events. Right now it's just a private thing for me. Is this something other people would find useful?
