This is a good point. Florida needs to redistrict to more properly represent the people of the state. This isn't about any sort of partisan advantage, like with California or Virginia. This is merely to Rightmander the state towards more proper representation.
And yes, I suppose they will end up with a map that is 26R-2D. But I mean that's how the state is. The state is full of conservatives who want to vote for Republicans. To draw anything less would be the actual gerrymander.

They're potentially going to a take +6ish point win (~53/47) in the referendum and use it to draw a +82 (91/9) map. They're going to undo a +31 point victory for "independent commission" redistricting in the Old Dominion, which won 2.77 million out of 4.22 million votes, with a +6ish point election for a +82 map. And this election might not even top 3 million votes. They're going to undo 2.77 million votes with like 1.6 million votes in Virginia. They could conceivably receive 1 million fewer votes for an extremely gerrymandered 91/9 map in Virginia than an actually fair 55/45 map received.
And they will call this Democracy.
