@timothy_mukoro @Facecopro Restaurant business is good, not poverty.
English

@yourdesignerzen @Facecopro From the teaching, is restaurant business good and not poverty?
English

@timothy_mukoro @Facecopro Nope, because is not just one business for the church. But for her to it could’ve been her only. That’s just how I see it.
English

@Facecopro But the church has ownership of said restaurant, and is about to get money from the restaurant. Is that poverty?

If you are a Chelsea fan or not, the narrative portrayed here is so wrong, it has to be corrected!!!
It’s easy to clown on Chelsea, and yes, they have made some bad decisions. But let’s not pretend they are uniquely reckless.
Clubs like Barcelona and Juventus have posted far worse losses and carried enormous debt during their crises. Barcelona alone hit over €1B in debt and nearly €500M in losses in a single season. That’s not “bad decisions” — that’s systemic financial collapse.
Chelsea’s situation has always been different. Much of their “debt” under Abramovich wasn’t traditional bank debt, it was owner-backed and ultimately written off. That’s not the same risk profile as clubs leveraged to the brink.
Even Tottenham carries higher gross debt today due to stadium financing, and Manchester United has operated under leveraged debt for years.
So yes, criticize Chelsea’s decisions, fair game. But the idea that they are uniquely irresponsible doesn’t hold up. Football is full of clubs that have spent big, lost big, and survived through different financial models.
Context matters.
Here it is for deeper dive…
1. FC Barcelona
Peak debt: ~€1.35 billion (2021)
Largest annual loss: ~€481 million (2020–21)
A perfect storm of wage overload, failed transfers, and COVID collapse.
This is widely seen as the worst financial crisis ever at a top club.
⸻
2. Tottenham Hotspur FC
Peak debt: ~£1.2 billion (~€1.4 billion)
Largest annual loss: ~£86 million (2020–21)
Huge debt but relatively moderate losses → stadium-driven, controlled risk.
⸻
3. Real Madrid CF
Peak debt: ~€1.2 billion (early 2000s, gross)
Largest annual loss: ~€91 million (2020)
Even at its worst, losses stayed comparatively contained.
⸻
4. Juventus FC
Peak debt: ~€900 million
Largest annual loss: ~€254 million (2020–21)
Heavy wage bill (notably Cristiano Ronaldo era) + pandemic hit hard.
⸻
5. Manchester United FC
Peak debt: ~£700–800 million
Largest annual loss: ~£115 million (2021–22)
Debt from leveraged buyout + declining sporting performance.
⸻
6. Inter Milan
Peak debt: ~€700+ million
Largest annual loss: ~€245 million (2020–21)
One of the biggest losses ever in Italy; forced player sales afterward.
⸻
7. AC Milan
Peak debt: ~€600–700 million
Largest annual loss: ~€195 million (2017–18)
Financial instability during ownership turmoil.
⸻
8. Chelsea FC
Peak debt: ~£1 billion (to owner Roman Abramovich)
Largest annual loss: ~£153 million (2020–21)
High losses but cushioned by owner funding (later written off).
Current £500 Million debt is not a jaw dropper but it sure doesn’t show a comparative result for such spending today.

@NizaarKinsella All I see here is fans not owning some part of the fault and always blaming the other parts, just as most human do! We the fans got some issue, we’re entitled and full of dopamine.

@theosasriemen @TobyEvenden Use apostrophes when typing, it's key.
Nothing in the above statement contradicts the fact Chelsea haven't challenged a major trophy since the new ownership
They're sinking further and further away
English

In spite of them the club do just have a DNA that gets us in positions to win things, the reality is our “banter era” will likely be laden with more trophies than most teams golden eras, hilariously massive club

English

@objective_cfc You're just talking just to talk , you want us to sit and watch us park the bus for full 90 mins just to win 1-0 so we can shout culture lmao 🤣, no one wants that shit and it's highly unsustainable it's exactly why Chelsea has never dominated any era even when we win trophies

I loved Maresca more than most, I was there during his darkest of moments, when there were only a handful of us left (post Ipswich home)
I get the angst and angle that people are coming from that ‘Clearlake didn’t back him’ and ‘it was so bad he was forced to leave’
..at the same time, I can’t lie in that I have a voice in the back of my head is loudly telling me thats a fucking great excuse that he’s leveraged to drop us and the players to go and take his dream job.
That’s just where I’m at with it.
I’m also not sure his style of football suited Chelsea culturally. We know this because the fans resisted it from day one, even when we were winning. Not many times you’ll see a manager boo’d on his home debut.
Stylistically he’s pep’s regen imo not just in how he sets up his team, but in how he uses players etc and for me, the perfect place for pep’s regen to be is Manchester City. I can make peace with it tbh.
There is a better cultural fit out there for this club. Someone that will resonate instantaneously with the club in a similar way to Mourinho and Tuchel etc.
We need to find him.
