@tessiconic sunny all day with a high 75, low 55 at night, light breeze all day, mountain and water views almost everywhere — other cities can only dream of this

@BrandonLBradfor So no, none of these people was considered “the left”’s favored candidate, nor did they identify with the left, nor were they particularly left-leaning except when compared to a Republican. There’s no evidence for the idea that voters had some wildly different view of it.

@BrandonLBradfor To say these people were considered “left” because they ran to the left of their *Republican* opponents — be serious. Obviously they ran to the left of those people, because *that’s how elections work*. All of them still tried very hard to emphasize centrist bona fides.

Just.a heads up here- The voting public, by vast majority, saw all of these candidates as "far left/too far left" and if you can't tackle that problem, you are never winning elections. Everyone who won was viewed as the more "centrist" candidate, no matter the policy attached.
@adammanross.bsky.social@adammanross

Al Gore lost in 2000 as a centrist. John Kerry lost in 2004 as a centrist. Hillary lost in 2016 as a centrist. Kamala lost 2024 as a centrist. If we’re going to win the 2026 midterms, we must abandon centrism all together. If the Democratic Party is to survive we must go left

I really don’t understand this — Maine is a Clinton/Biden/Harris state that has trended bluer in recent cycles relative to the national average. Platner is running in a favorable cycle. To win, he just needs to get loyal Democrats to stop ticket-splitting.

@SCROMU @carrionmuncher This is the most likely explanation, although we really don’t know because it’s a show-exclusive detail and the show hasn’t explained it yet

@yung__griff @TheRoyalSerf Do you hear yourself? Do you even remember your main point? You can choose to raise your own kids instead of outsourcing to expensive daycare. Make all the excuses you want it’s possible, maybe just not for you.

@YetiYankee @TheRoyalSerf Awesome for those 54%. In your world the other 46% would have to live the same way even though they don’t want to. Imagine having choices in a free country, but I guess you don’t want it to be free.

@yung__griff @TheRoyalSerf Domestic slaves? Aren’t you dramatic. In 2015 they did a poll with over 300k women that 54% wishes they were home with their children. Imagine using FMLA which gives you 12 weeks off of work only to have to then give your 12 week old to day care to be raised for you.

@yung__griff @TheRoyalSerf Took a couple scrolls. I’m one of tons of examples of people who can raise multiple children and have a mother be at home. Doesn’t take 6 figures. Takes rejection of the comforts homos like you can’t live without. If you can’t afford kids it’s your fault.
