Cursor is hiring design engineers. looking for people with taste, systems thinking, and deep care for fast, polished experiences – especially folks excited to build the tools that help designers, engineers, and agents ship quality code. know someone? tag them or DM me 📧

when i shop on amazon i carefully look for trusted name brands… brands like ZDFKEA & RTUARL... you know familiar household names. it makes me feel like i’m buying a mission, not just a product.

It seems, (and this is just a hypothesis from my timeline), that many are falling into Goodhart’s Law - acceptance to YC as the metric to measure instead of building something people want. While YC is a good *indicator it’s hardly the metric determining pmf and an overall successful company. I think this is a direct illustration of Goodhart’s Law when it comes to the comments on YC (e.g., “what has happened to YC”, “since Garry has taken over YC has fallen off”, etc). I’d argue that neither of those things are true. Garry has done a terrific job of continuing the YC values and ecosystem - it’s bigger than ever before. I believe what is the case is that YC has become a status metric that has been turned into a target. Therefore, a lot of highly intelligent & competent people are maximizing for YC acceptance and not building something people want. As a result, the filtering for YC has become harder and batch sizes and batch frequencies have become larger. This isn’t bad for YC, it’s the complete opposite. However, it does mean that there will be a larger percentage of YC companies that don’t make something people want. This isn’t a poor reflection on YC or Garrys leadership just the result of human psychology constantly optimizing the wrong metric and the general popularity and increase in size of YC (e.g., more batches - more batch frequency, more startups, more successful startups, more failed startups)

It's true- Jane Street rejected me for this mock interview even though I had already worked there for 7 years They said I should've used Claude Code. I said it was 2022 and Claude literally didn't exist yet. They said I should have invented CC during the interview Crazy stuff!

LIVE NOW - The $200 Billion Shadow Market Behind Anthropic's Stock | Dio Casares Anthropic's secondary market is tens of billions of dollars deep, stacked with SPVs on top of SPVs charging 10% fees plus carry, and almost entirely opaque. @diogenes of @patagon breaks down how it actually works: - which deals Anthropic blesses and which get cease-and-desists, - why fake share certificates show up in 10-20% of executed deals, - what tokenized equities and pre-IPO perps actually represent, - and the mess of lawsuits and stuck shares coming when Anthropic finally IPOs. LITERALLY ALL I WANT IS A CHATBOT FOR TRAVEL "FIND ME THE BEST HOTEL AND BOOK IT"
TBPN@tbpn

"I do not think a chatbot is the right interface for travel or e-commerce." - @bchesky "I think the future is not apps. The future is agents, but I don't think they're going to be text-forward. I think they're going to be really rich user interfaces." "Imagine using iMessage to do everything, when in fact every other app has a unique interface." "With e-commerce, you want a very rich user interface. It would be agentic. You can have a conversation with it, but the point is that it has to be more visual."

it’s kinda fascinating that evolution didn’t ship apis for the body. e.g. you can’t read your cortisol or write to your heart rate. the nervous system roughly exposes two endpoints for managing these.. breath & movement. both of which are indirect.

We just launched the @Link CLI: github.com/stripe/link-cli. Tell your friendly neighborhood agent about it -- agents can use the Link CLI to create single-use credentials that you get to synchronously approve each time. I asked Claude to buy itself a gift. It chose HTTPZine on Gumroad.

I invested in xAI, OpenAI, Anthropic. hate that venture is exclusive. this new vehicle from @AngelList makes it less so. that said, if you want to invest in venture through vehicles like this. do it eyes wide open. venture is - high fee (~2/20 for underlying funds + ~1% management fee for USVC) - illiquid if private markets are the new public markets, the public should be able to access them. the early attempts will not be perfect (see again -- high fee, illiquid), but it's a start.
