Litmus test: Anyone that says, “our democracy” is a fool or corrupt full stop. Semantics matter. Judge people by this because it’s a tell. The USA is a constitutional republic. We exercise democratic elements within each state, however, the country as a whole is NOT a democracy. ie the fictional “popular vote” (because that would be mob rule and rife with cheating worse than it already is).

@brianeharrison This is why my family and I left Texas. As much as we loved it, it wasn't financially feasable long-term to live in the state.
