Just saw someone in the wild open the @coinbase app to use USDC at Starbucks. There was a separate conversion he had to do, but it looked like he was using Coinbase like a bank account. I didn’t get a chance to ask him what the flow was. Very exciting stuff.

I'm turning 40 on Thursday. So naturally I'm celebrating all month. Something I realized is that 40 gives you the opportunity to reflect, while also giving you a reason to celebrate.

A lot of nuance to my answer. There are lots of founders who wish they raised more, and spent less. This founder was disciplined, and was able to get farther on less money than they raised. I'd say its an exception, not the rule. And you don't know if you are exception until you do it.

Looking back, we should have probably raised less in our pre-seed. We raised around $2.6M. We spent maybe $400k. The rest was sitting our bank. For founders, it's tempting to just keep going once you unlock that first big check (took about ~150 meetings). Fast forward 3 years, we still haven't spent our seed money and December was our first profitable month.
