Screening for health-related social needs (HRSN) is critical, but how it's done matters. A recent study by LDI Fellows @PeterCronholm, @annauma, and colleagues highlights disparities in HRSN screening methods and completion rates.

However, they would have preferred more clarity re: enrolment process and had concerns about the program for marginalized patients. Suggested alternatives to SMS, including calls, telemed. Need to keep this in mind when designing new programs!

Team interviewed patients enrolled in COVID Watch (in English & Spanish) and referring clinicians to better understand experience + inform future program design. Both groups agreed - the program was reassuring and comforting.

Excited to share new work published in @JAMANetworkOpen yesterday! Discharged patients who were enrolled in a primary-care based text messaging program were less likely to go back to the hospital within 30 days. Pilot reported here, RCT ongoing!
