@ChefVtuber @BShrigley @RM_Transit There’s still plans to electrify the other lines (besides Milton and Richmond Hill), but the timeline has just been significantly expanded

@joakial_ For those that don’t buy this, these buses have operated driverless in Stavanger for years now, but have had a driver just in case, so they already know how this bus operates, that’s how they feel comfortable actually going all the way now!

@HeronKhalil @RM_Transit They could also utilize the bus way being built along the former SRT corridor and extend it to Sheppard to create a bus loop in east-central Scarborough. This provides coverage along Sheppard since line 4 would be rerouted south to STC.

Toronto is a city which says it wants people to take transit but still has the Eglinton East LRT as a top priority (an expensive railification of buses that will at best marginally improve service) while the Yonge Line has been bursting at the seams for decades.

@moretransitso For the east end of line 4, I propose this alignment (line 4 Magenta line, light green is line 2, Orange is Eglinton, purple are midtown GO lines).

@moretransitso I like the idea. I think the alignment should follow RM transit's suggested route. I would add a branch to serve Malvern/Toronto Zoo directly that would connect to the 407 regional rail line there.

We are planning on extending the Sheppard Subway, and there is an opportunity to think bigger extend the line cheap and efficiently to Toronto's largest development. While the site is currently empty and before housing is built. Read our new article: open.substack.com/pub/moretransi…

@moretransitso They need to ensure that all the GO lines (including the Milton line) are electrified. The Milton line could be rebuilt as a separate automated light metro line connecting to Square One.

@RM_Transit Roads are shared, not dedicated to highspeed trains. Trains have schedules. A problem on the track stops all traffic. If you analyze trains it's clear they are a crap expensive alternative. That's why the existing rail network gets so little use

Cars require . . . vision, highways and roads (dedicated row), don't provide a luggage service, and require you to park at both ends and pay for it.
Jesse Parker@GoodAtBingo

@RM_Transit Trains suck because they require a dedicated right of way, cost more for families who can take 1 car, are hard to use unless you're able-bodied, hard with luggage, and require connections at both ends. Trains suck and that's why we don't have many

@AlbertaLeonidas @dubsndoo It's never been tried in Canada. The population density of the Quebec City - Toronto corridor is dense enough to support HSR. Australia is expected to start building HSR in 2028, and their population density/distribution is similar to Canada's.

Perhaps you could show me on a map where they have high speed rail in America? They’ve been fighting to build one in California (population 40 million, the size of Canada), but cost estimates have risen from $45 billion to $135 billion, and it’s not even close to being built.
Reece Martin@RM_Transit

Says a lot about the CPC that their MPs think infrastructure that Korea, Germany, France, the UK, the US, Turkey, Japan, China, etc. etc. have all managed to to deliver is as likely as "flying cars". Of course their plan is just to cancel, not to actually build something.
