@Marriott behind the times and uncaring towards moms/families/babies. As a lifetime titanium member and ambassador for 10+ years, I am disappointed that lounge access was denied to us in every hotel this recent trip to Japan after 5/7pm with our 3 month old breastfed baby. 1/2

@AllanCooper @Kia @AAAauto Cerritos mate. Shoot didn’t think of it. She’s stuck on side of road and KIA saying radiator fluid leaking everywhere, car not drivable , stuck with 3 kids and has to get an uber.
English

@Duftydownunder @Kia @AAAauto You should have called be mate. @KIA is a great company with great products. My mates all work there and will assist you. What dealership sold you the Carnival?

@MarriottBonvoy @AskAmex why pretend you get a “free” night every year with the Amex Bonvoy card when it’s only 35,000 points with max additional 15,000 points so total 50k and even 3-4 star hotels are 55-70k per night making the award unusable (except for 2-3 star hotels).

@Kellblog @LiamBoogar Dave aligned with the spirit and that speed is key. If you had to rank all the possible causes - and thinking about all the situations you’ve experienced and advanced, what are the top 3 (in order would be great) causes / areas to fix this.
English

Consider that kind of a teaser for a blog post, but that took 10m and blog posts take me 5-8 hours. So, yes, it's vague!
The problem is probably clear: a company in a decent space with a good product that delivers value, but they can't get GTM works: sales missing targets, turnover is high, you flip the VPS every 18 months, maybe similar turnover in marketing, CAC is high, attainment is low.
The product works and delivers value, you think, but you can't figure out how to sell it or how to build an org to sell it.
The solution is hard. I have no Twitter magic wand to fix this. (Though I do a lot of advising in this area.) We're doing an upcoming SaaS Talk episode on GTM Troubleshooting that should help.
But the main point of this post is: don't be too patient, fix the problem, replace an exec, try a new model, change marketing strategy, but do something and not incremental.
Because it's not the direct cost that's killing you. What risks killing you is you wake up after 3 years realizing you spent 100% of your time on GTM and overlooked major oppties and/or major threats to the business.
English

There is a massive opportunity cost for startups who can't get their go-to-market (GTM) machine working.
It causes them and the board to focus endlessly and excessively on getting it to work.
I call this GTM Myopia and it's really dangerous. I've literally watched companies struggle endlessly to tie their shoelaces while a 20-ton avil is tracking to come down on their business.
If caught in this situation, be impatient and somewhat radical about getting it fixed. You think you're just sliding your growth curve back 12-18 months. But you might be not addressing a strategic meteor aimed at your business.

@AmericanAir Thank you . I will DM you. Appreciate the reply !
English

@Duftydownunder That doesn't seem right, did you need that done for an upcoming trip? We can take care of it for you. We're only a DM away, Richard.
English

@AmericanAir When are you going to enable family traveling with Exec Plat members to have access to complementary priority seats - (main cabin extra) when traveling on same flight but different record locator (which happens all the time eg business travel). @thepointsguy
English

@AmericanAir I’ve rang and asked 3 agents and all said it’s not possible.
English

@Duftydownunder It's something that is already allowed but due to system restraints, must be manually done with our Reservation's team.
English

@nrmehta Nick, I think the funniest (?) part is sales complains for 3 years “we don’t have decks from marketing, I can’t sell”. Marketing produces deck. Sales doesn’t like it, creates their own anyway (that they have had for years). Why do we play this game and do this to ourselves ?
English

@andywhyte @Kellblog Sshhhh I’ve been waiting for him to start charging for all this content !
English

I can substitue "deal" for "code" and this still works
Erik Bernhardsson@bernhardsson
This might be heresy but: 1. Code reviews are a massive productivity tax with tiny quality benefits 2. They should not be mandated 3. The author should feel free to request a review if they want it 4. If you don't trust your engineers, invest more in CI, or hire better ones
English

@Kellblog @andywhyte Thanks Dave. Read and downloaded this one when it came out :) great to reshare. In 2024 this is a must read for GTM leaders
English

@Duftydownunder @andywhyte Thanks. Optional might be a tad strong, but I like inverting the paradigm to something positive, something I want to do, something focused on helping me win.
