when fb acquired whatsapp the deal was ~$19b for ~450m users, so roughly $42 per user. now question is how does an m&a department value a podcast acquisition? on revenue? ads? users? hosts? in the near future is it possible you see these types of multiples for only audiences?! regardless while you’re grinding on building a startup, a *podcast* likely just exited for more than you ever will.

@athcanft Do you have proof that this actually works in ios26+? Everyone I have talked to says that apple no longer pops the review prompts so early on in a users use of the app.

you can boost your apps ASO massively with this simple trick: 1. put a 'leave a review' step in your onboarding (after 5-10 questions) 2. trigger native ios review module 3. user hits 5 stars (it's a psychologically trained behavior to do this) without this, every install is wasted ASO

@sama Lucky for you, they don't have to change how hard they go on you at all. They are literally the most pro-tech soft ball interviewers in the business.

TBPN is my favorite tech show. We want them to keep that going and for them to do what they do so well. I don't expect them to go any easier on us, am sure I'll do my part to help enable that with occasional stupid decisions.

@Stevie_658jjh @anything They have no reason to want to. They just don't want apps in the app store that can generate on device code that changes the apps functionality.

@HeyFromPeter @iamintrospect @cesaralvarezll I just tested it today and it worked in the simulated flow so we’ll see. I’m waiting for the user to have at least a week and several uses before I ask. Probably being too conservative

Some people question asking for a review during onboarding. It sounds counterintuitive, but it works you catch users when they’re most excited. Most people only leave reviews when something goes wrong. If you want positive ones, you have to ask. This strategy got my iOS app to 59 ratings with 4.7 out of 5.

@cesaralvarezll Doesn’t Apple not show the prompt to users if they’ve had the app for a short time? The native review prompt is not guaranteed

@cesaralvarezll Pretty sure this doesn't work anymore in iOS26. Every app I have seen with ratings during on boarding no longer triggers the popup. I think Apple blocks it from showing up. Have you seen different?

@duncan_byr24197 @GriftReport A 2 bedroom apartment in LA in a decent area is easily $3500 a month. To get a whole condo mortgage for that amount is extremely cheap no matter how you slice it.

56-year-old Heather Graham gives a tour of her stunning NYC penthouse, bought right before 9/11 with a shockingly low $3,500 monthly mortgage on a nearly $3million home. She was due to move in on September 11, 2001 while at the Toronto Film Festival, flights grounded so she stayed in Long Island and finally stepped inside on September 12. The Boogie Nights star calls it her “peaceful oasis” filled with yoga space, spiritual statues and global decor. Now she’s just landed a recurring role in White Lotus season four, filming next month in the South of France.

@alaska_gma @muscleforlife She went from training non-stop and eating like 10k calories a day just to maintain, to retiring and having her TDEE drop significantly. Anyone would struggle to adapt to having to eat so fewer calories than they have for their whole adult life. Its not rocket science.

"Ozempic is too expensive." Cool. Eat 1,500 calories a day. "That's not the same thing." It's literally the same thing. That's what the drug makes you do. "But it's hard without the drug." Now you understand what you're actually paying for.

@itzadetunji1 @david_attisaas No. They will just never pay. Almost all paid subscriptions happen on first app open. If you don't get them to pay immediately, most users will not. Even after experiencing the app.

@urko_garmendia @david_attisaas Free trial is still compatible with a hard paywall. But you shouldn't be able to get into the app unless you start a trial or pay. No unpaid freemium experience.

@david_attisaas Thanks, can you explain what you mean by a hard paywall? Do you mean the user cannot get past the paywall at all and enter the app, or that almost everything inside the app is locked unless they pay?

@gusapps @VincentLoi1204 People post about Adobe's annual plan charged monthly every day accusing them of charging cancellation fees. I don't see why Apple would do this if its obviously going to get an immense amount of backlash by users.

🪂 Another huge drop for Apple in-app purchases coming up in iOS 26.5 Soon we'll be able to create Monthly subscription plans with 12 months commitment. developer.apple.com/documentation/… Wonder if this will help drive retention...
