@bphillipsonMP ‘Driver up the standards of state schools’…. by increasing state school class size, increasing demand on SEN services, disrupting children’s education half way through a school year, promoting envy based on stereotypes and giving each school half a teacher. 🧐

We have put our shoulder to the wheel to fix the foundations, to ensure change begins: Ofsted reform Curriculum & Assessment Review Skills England Child Poverty Taskforce And in under 100 days, we will end private schools' tax breaks to drive up standards in our state schools.

@BBCRichardMoss interesting that you said “Kemp was furious” when you came back from the VT on todays ‘Politics North East.’ We would like to know why he was furious, considering he is refusing to reply to residents and businesses. bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episod…

@KiMcGuinness this scheme in Jesmond isn’t cleaning up the air, it’s doing nothing of the sort! Care to comment why “Kemp was furious” as he can’t be bothered to reply to businesses in the area?

@JesmondPool1 @space4gosforth @cedavies79 @NewCycling I remember trying to save the pool decades ago. It would be such a shame if the LTN put it at risk of closing again. Swimming is such a vital skill for children to learn. It can be hard to squeeze lessons in around school and work. Sorry parents are having to choose.

@space4gosforth @cedavies79 @NewCycling We support health initiatives but unfortunately 50% of our customers come from outside the area, due to the inadequate public transport they have to drive. We wouldn't object to adults swimming in the kids pool if we had one 🙂

@JesmondTanya @JaneLabour Shame busses become effectively useless when they can’t move from the congestion caused by the LTN. 17 min between Clayton Road junction and Osborne road on Friday afternoon.

Another day. Another staff member resigning to go work outside Jesmond citing Low Traffic measures adding time to commute. Massive issue for the practice and local GP service. @NewcastleCC #jesmond #jesmondltn

@JaneLabour @JesmondTanya Cameras don’t help with static traffic on other residential streets, increased pollution outside our schools/nurseries, damage to local businesses, the difficulties parents now have dropping children off at school or nursery and getting to work.

My Labour colleagues in North & South Jesmond think a camera scheme could address the journey time issue raised by residents in the East Jesmond low traffic zone. They want your views to help build a case @JesmondTanya facebook.com/NorthJesmondVo…

@JaneLabour @JesmondTanya This plan doesn’t even begin to address the majority of the concerns that local people have with the Jesmond LTZ. Still no response from you or any of the labour councillors from my emails weeks ago.

We’re amending the scheme due to the increase in traffic on some streets. I’m sorry that the initial version caused problems for residents on those streets & for the time it has taken to resolve it. newcastle.gov.uk/citylife-news/…

@JaneLabour I’ve emailed over a week ago. No response. Your actions are in conflict with the needs of the community, for the benefit of a tiny, wealthy minority. Never mind safety of streets at night, needs of the less able, pollution from static cars outside schools, total CO2 production.
