@ImMeme0 In the late 60s, my mom was in the first wave of married women going back to college. She went to a private girls’ college in a nearby town. She was very popular, as she taught these young ladies how to do laundry - probably inspired her to get her daughter (me) up to speed.

@ImMeme0 When we were middle school age, we got the deep dive into laundry basics from Mom. We could already sort, fold, etc. I was introduced to the wonderful world of ironing @ 6YO, courtesy of dad’s handkerchiefs, and was handling my less complicated clothes by 9, IIRC.

@SuburbanDuchess Couldn’t have said this better myself. No one is without sin in this one, but I’m willing to sympathize with a very young Diana, in over her head, while still not trashing C&C (got other nits to pick w/KC3). Like JFK, Diana will be forever young, forever intriguing.

I've been thinking about Diana. People here called her Princess Diana, so I knew her as that, though I'm sure Brits called her something else. I knew of Prince Charles, because he was widely considered to be the most eligible bachelor in the Western world. So I'd see him in a magazine and go on with life. Then he became engaged to Diana, and the news about her just would not stop. Every move made by her was widely reported here in the US, and as a teen I felt bad for her not being able to enjoy privacy in the lead up to her wedding. I woke up to see her wedding, and I thought she looked dreamy. The dress screamed 1980's, and her veil was stunning. Shy Di entered St Paul's and married the most eligible man on earth. I know Harold drudging up fake memories of his mom has caused many of us to focus on her affairs, but I was thinking about how she felt. By the night or two before the wedding she told her sisters about Charles and Camilla's strange friendship, but her sisters told her it was too late to back out. I wish she had backed out, but then we would have no Prince William etc. I wish she had found the love of a man who worshiped her alone, but she had to pretend to be a happy princess all while dealing with a pregnancy (because she had to have an heir as soon as possible), Charles not connecting with her emotionally, Camilla being around, and the expectations of a much older queen who likely didn't remember what it felt like to be 20. But Diana was right to want love. I feel like we've trashed her in the interest of perhaps showing that Harry is not from Charles, even though as unhappy as he was about Harry's birth, and he was upset, Charles claimed him as his son. Diana might not have had the greatest choice in men, but she must have been looking for what Charles had with Camilla. That wouldn't happen in her situation. They met before either married. And I'm happy they wound up together (C&C), but this isn't about trashing them either. It was a bad situation playing out in front of us, because technology had become advanced enough to spy on both of them and spill the details. Previous arranged marriages (so to speak) were private matters. Diana wasn't afforded that. She was the princess of the 1980s and 1990s, and she was laid bare for all to see. She was a good mom. She tried to be a good royal, by making a difference. She was a sweet innocent girl who became the world's most fascinating woman until she died. So. I'm posting pics of Diana visiting the US. Just because I still find her intriguing after all this time.

Like Camilla or not, she represents the UK and Monarchy very well. Her dresses fit and appropriate, her jewelry always immaculate, her hair always perfect, and shoes always appropriate. Camilla learned from the best at diplomacy, Queen Elizabeth II. Sometimes it’s best to set ego aside and listen to courtiers and those who have been at it longer than you’ve been alive. 😏

Hollywood Yesterday✨
Hollywood Yesterday✨@HollywoodYeste1·
While many stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood are fascinating in an “over the top” way, the ones that fascinate me the most (by a lot) are the ones who seemingly got along with everyone, were, by all indications, gracious for the obvious advantages they enjoyed, and seemed to just rise above the drama surrounding them. They’re the ones who seldom (if ever) belittled or spoke negatively of others because they simply saw life from a higher viewpoint and were too busy building their own life to try and tear down someone else’s. They’re the ones you hardly, if ever, read anything negative about. Some possessed incredible strength of character and, as I said, I think it’s fascinating. Many now enjoy an EXTRA special legacy… fitting into a category of stars who everyone seems to love. Talk about an ELITE legacy! ✨ One of the stars who fits beautifully into this category was the brilliantly talented Eve Arden. She was born on April 30, 1908 and, to this day, classic movies, tv, and radio are better for it. She made every scene better and increases a movie’s worth simply by showing up. She was truly one of a kind.

Tennessee already had an entertainment district it was called The Strip many years ago. But almost 20 years ago they decided Cumberland Ave needed to be one lane both directions with a few left turn lanes which was basically the beginning of the end. Now it’s just overpriced skyscraper apartments with chain restaurants coming in The Strip lost its identity a long time ago.

@jason_fox @AdamSinger You are not entirely wrong. My elementary-school principal mom (1980s, for context) was not a fan of vending machines in school, but it was a tremendous bribe to the school system and a money-grab for the companies.

I don't understand why smartphones were ever allowed in schools in the first place. We weren't even allowed to take out a graphing calculator outside of very specific math or science classes. Did everyone just give up on rules and decorum at some point

I have friends on here from around the country and even the globe. So, I want to know.... Who is the greatest author who was born, has lived, or has written in your country or state? What works do you recommend by them? For Oklahoma, I must choose Louis L'Amour, he lived for a time and got his start writing while living in the state. I recommend you start with Hondo, shortly followed by Education of a Wandering Man.
