@zaddyfi Yeah it kinda feels like we did. Got everyone talking, pulled in both sides, and kept it in the feed all day. Whether it was intentional or not, it worked. After looking at my feed, it seems to have cast a negative light on Solana Gaming. Don't think they intended that.

I don’t think you’re wrong about the current state. Most Web3 games just haven’t hit the level of polish, gameplay feel, or content depth that even older Web2 titles nailed years ago. But that says more about where the space is in its lifecycle than what it’s capable of. Building a great game is already hard, adding new tech on top makes it even harder, so it’s lagging behind. The real shift happens when a game is genuinely fun first and the Web3 layer just quietly improves ownership, economies, or progression without getting in the way.

The tech does solve real problems, but none of that matters if the experience itself isn’t compelling. The gap right now isn’t capability, it’s execution. We just haven’t seen a game yet that hits on story, polish, and gameplay at the level people expect. Once that happens, the narrative around all of this flips pretty fast.

Been seeing this ridiculous post and had to put my 2 cents in Blockchain gaming IS the answer to so many problems and better solutions for gamers • True Ownership of Assets • Real World Value and Monetization • Interoperability and Portability • Tamper Proof Transparency and Reduced Cheating • Enhanced Security Against Hacks and Fraud • Open Secondary Markets and Player Driven Economies • Reduced Censorship and Greater Freedom The ONLY problem blockchain gaming has is the stories they tell absolutely suck All we have is just a bunch multiplier games with the same maps and gun mechanics Nothing captivating, no great stories E.g. RDR2, GTA, Assassins creed, COD (original developers), Halo There’s NOTHING like that here This person is not a gamer and has no idea what she’s talking abt Disregard

Yeah that’s the real issue, once you’re at the top your words carry weight whether you meant them that way or not. Even if it was meant as a take, it lands like a signal to builders and people will read into it. At that level you’ve got to be a bit more intentional, especially when people are deciding where to build.

@RealChainGames When you are the top its net negative to ragebait... What builder would want to build with someone who doesn't believe in their own product! The tweet is out screen shots are taken media can twist it however they want now

@RealChainGames can't be only voting needs to include being shipped in game (with royalty mechanisms) without any "developer" ever touching anything

imagine if the skins in a game didn't depend on a central issuer people could submit models on forums that get voted on and accepted into the next game build, and the creator gets a cut of anyone who buys that skin in game come on folks, your heads are more than a hat hanger

I wouldn’t go that far. Play to earn as it was originally pitched definitely broke down once the incentives stopped making sense, but that doesn’t mean the whole idea of blockchain in gaming is dead. It just showed that you can’t build a game around extraction and expect it to last. If the game is actually good and the tech stays in the background, there’s still something there.

I get the frustration with the space, but writing off everyone in it misses the bigger picture. There are a lot of people putting in real work trying to build actual games, not just chasing a quick narrative. It’s a tough problem, especially on new tech, and most of it won’t land, but that doesn’t make the effort meaningless. The ones who stick with it and get the fundamentals right are the ones that will move things forward. It’s easy to take shots from the outside, it’s a lot harder to actually build something that works.

The problem with this statement is that it shits on everyone in crypto gaming And while the space has suffered from it's share of grifters and scammers and deserves fair criticism (like all of crypto) There are earnest builders dedicating their lives to creating something meaningful And doing their best to bridge the gap between gaming and blockchain To onboard new people into crypto with great experiences I refuse to give up on the passionate game developers with dreams, courage, and conviction that are weathering the impossible battle of making a hit game on a new technology as hard as blockchain It's easy and in fashion to dunk on crypto gaming but really, it just shows either how uninformed you are or how little care and consideration you have towards people trying their best with good intentions

@sue_xbt Yeah, exactly. Once the game is actually good, everything else starts to make sense. The blockchain piece just adds to it instead of trying to carry it. Until then, it’s always going to feel forced.

@beaniemaxi I get the angle, there are definitely real use cases there. But most teams jumped straight to financialization before proving the game actually works. If the core loop isn’t fun, none of that matters. The ones that flip that order are the ones that will win.

I'll take the other side of this bet. Blockchain fixes more problems in gaming than any other industry. Tokenization of assets is growing. Got a secular gambling tailwind. Financialization of gaming is a mega trend. Embarrassing statement by the president of Solana Foundation.

@raidenkrn Yeah it will, it just has to be done the right way. If the game actually stands on its own, the blockchain layer just makes it better instead of carrying it. Most projects got that backwards, but the ones that don’t are going to prove it works.

She’s right. A lot of what passed for “games” were really just monetization loops with some gameplay wrapped around them. If the whole thing falls apart the moment people stop believing the assets go up, then it was never really a game in the first place. The ones that stick are the ones you’d still play even if you stripped all that out.

Yeah, that’s exactly how these cycles tend to play out. You get a flood of noise first, a lot of low quality stuff trying to extract, and most of it gets washed out over time. What actually lasts are the teams building something people would use even without the token attached. Gaming will follow the same path, just a bit slower because the bar for a good game is way higher. If anything, this phase is just filtering for the few that are actually worth sticking around.

If stablecoins are disruptive enough to force banks to onboard, gaming will naturally follow the same path In that process will be thousands of garbage projects, with garbage games & garbage tokens looking to extract That's literally the story of Solana right now, though Millions of memecoin rugs filtering toward legitimate use cases As the president of a chain going through that exact same process in real time, you should recognize the pattern better than anyone

@KEMOS4BE I get why it looks that way, a lot of it has been hype over substance. But if the game actually stands on its own, that changes everything. The blockchain part should just sit in the background and enhance it, not be the whole pitch.
