Polling like this was cited as the reason that people like Astead had no choice but to talk about Biden's age and only Biden's age, over and over again. Every flub was turned into a breaking news notification. And yet, now that the shoe is on the other foot, they are just completely silent. Strange.

The reason I can’t take @AsteadWH seriously is he wrote stuff like this in 2024 but now wants to launch a post trump podcast as the guy is falling asleep repeatedly in public. Unserious people but emblematic of the same DC bubble he was criticizing back then

Over 70% of Americans struggle to afford food, housing, and healthcare. Meanwhile, US billionaires increased their wealth by $1.5 trillion during Trump’s second term, and Trump has more than doubled his net worth. This is what an oligarchy looks like.

There is the type of moral free-fall and rejection of personal responsibility expressed on the Times podcast. Because they condemn our age as unethical, they feel justified in asserting a moral right to commit any offense, from "microlooting" to murder...thehill.com/opinion/crimin…

Grandpa is having a senile moment again. So much to unpack here. First he claims that Spirit was about to merge with People Express. People Express went out of business in 1987. Spirit didn't even form until 1983 as Charter Airlines and didn't acquire its first jet and become Spirit until 1992. Dude doesn't even know what century he's in. Then he claims that if we bought Spirit, we'd be buying a company with virtually no debt. The whole reason Spirit is going bankrupt because of its debt. It has 7.4 billion worth, in fact. He then goes on to say that Spirit's problem is high oil prices. Spirit has been failing for years, and especially last year when oil prices were at their lows. The reason Spirit is failing is because they never recovered their post-Covid budget traveler segment and, as a low cost carrier, they can't increase prices without losing their captured customer base, which means their margins are being crushed. Rising fuel costs are just the last cherry on top. As if ALL THIS weren't bad enough, Trump then goes on to claim that he could "flip" the company because "they've got a lot of good aircraft". One of Spirit's biggest problems is that a large portion of their fleet is grounded because Pratt & Whitney sold them a bunch of dud engines and the frames aren't airworthy. Spirit literally can't even use a lot of its "very good aircraft". They also haven't been profitable in 7 years. Someone put grandpa to bed, he's gotten into the medicine cabinet again.

America's most trusted pollster, who essentially predicted the margin within 1 point in Virginia (better than Schar!), has Trump's approval improve +0.7 points on net. More notably, the House Generic Ballot goes from 47.0/41.3 from four weeks ago to now 46.5/42.3. That's a +1.5 improvement. House Generic Ballot now stands at just D+4.2. That's less than half the 2018 final margin of D+8.6, and is terrible news for Ray Coper and Melanie McSorrow.

The most likely outcome for the U.S. Senate is 52R-48D with two fewer “problem senators.” GOP loses NC but also loses Tillis’ annoying presence. Collins beats Platner because Collins doesn’t reflect the environment. If there is a surprise in MI or NH, it balances out any surprise elsewhere. It’s really hard to see a surprise from Dems. All this is before we see what happens in the MI and NH primaries and after we account for the Reverse Dobbs Effect of 2026. 52R is the most likely outcome. But dare I say it looks like the upside is really in the GOP favor. Hinson and Husted aren’t losing. Moody isn’t even on the map for Dems, and chubby Vindman makes it less so. Peltola and Talarico are both fakes. Spending a ton of money to raise money to look real. And notice I didn’t even consider Georgia? Perhaps we should still consider Georgia. Dems need a good governor candidate to shore up turnout.

If you're keeping track at home, Trump is hiding his grotesquely discolored hand and fell asleep multiple times today during the press conference. And somehow, it's just being completely ignored. Covered up, if you will. The only people who will acknowledge it are "partisans". For press/pundits who made Joe Biden's age and decline The One And Only issue of our time, it sure is very bizarre behavior.

If you take the TDS glasses off, he clearly meant Biden rather than Obama and JetBlue rather than People Express, and then you’re left with the fact that the elderly president’s memory is failing him somewhat in a normal way for a person of his age.

Not surprisingly, Piker has turned out to be a massive gift to the GOP, which is weaponizing Piker’s commentary. You may not have seen them, but his latest comments have gone viral on right-wing media. Tens of millions of dollars of GOP ads are being written as we speak. This week, The Atlantic’s Chait warned that embracing Piker could cause Democrats to lose an otherwise winnable Senate seat in Michigan. open.substack.com/pub/charliesyk…
