@RoblerRun As for payroll, the players that are sinking the team were already here, except for Durbin, but Durbin isn’t contributing anything to payroll. He’s spent money efficiently on Suarez, Gray, and Contreras.

I don't want to pile on because I do think Breslow is doing a fine job with what he's been given but refusing to trade Duran and offering Arias but not Mayer for Ketel Marte are two pretty boneheaded mistakes that I feel like ~25/30 other executives would have avoided

@Razorfin_Hunter So 3 out of 5 could be hits. Anthony Teel Montgomery When you trade away two for a pitcher it is obvious to a middle schooler that you need to sign hitting

@RoblerRun I mean, what do you want him to do when 2/4 of the top prospects handed to him busted and the other was traded for Garrett Crochet? He didn’t hire the hitting coaches that supposedly “ruined” Campbell and Mayer. They were just overrated prospects.

@Slatewolf1104 @RoblerRun Do you understand that only caring about on-field results is not an effective way to evaluate a team or a player and that zero front offices operate that way

@Razorfin_Hunter lol, handed top farm system in baseball and higher payroll. Go look at what #1 farm systems have accomplished in the last 15 years Breslow is one of the worst big market gms ive ever seen

@RoblerRun He did a fine job while being handicapped by Chaim’s contracts. Disappointing season, but those happen sometimes. It’s unfair to expect him to know that three of our players would turn into pumpkins offensively.

The job market in the U.S. is an enigma. Everywhere I go is running on a skeleton crew that's dangerously understaffed. Yet none of them are hiring.

@NotoriousMW @LuigiScal But like, it won’t. His strikeout and walk rates are now 28-30% and 6-7% rather than 24-26% and 8-10%. His bat speed is still dropping. He’s never hitting 30 bombs again.

Why am I seeing so much talk of selling on my timeline? A positive regression to the mean for at least one current hitter + adding another good one and this team is in a much better spot.

@Buster_ESPN Another poor shortsighted decision to chase a rental while simultaneously giving up cost control and significant long-term potential

The Red Sox are in the market for a right-handed hitter with thump. Last year, they gave up Blaze Jordan, a former 3rd round draft pick, for two months of Steven Matz. Jordan, 23, has a Class AAA slash line of .317/.378/.537 so far this year, with 8 homers, 14 walks, 20 Ks. Chaim Bloom knew the player.

@Buster_ESPN Claim Bloom: Traded Mookie Betts for Alex Verdugo, Jeter Downs & Connor Wong Signed Trevor Story Signed Masataka Yoshida Signed Corey Kluber Signed James Paxton Signed Garrett Richards Chaim Bloom was a terrible, no good, very bad Chief Baseball Officer for the Boston Red Sox

The offensive regression of Carlos Narvaez is an underreported talking point of the season. He's elite defensively, but with all the other black holes in the lineup, the Red Sox really need more production from that spot

@DanBFox1287 Hardest thing in baseball is getting high ceiling talent - we have plenty of that, especially up the middle. Easiest thing in baseball is adding high floor veterans, especially at the corners. Our biggest hole is 3B - high floor 3B vets grow on trees. Couple of moves away

I do think some people are overstating the direness of the Red Sox long-term outlook. They essentially have their entire rotation locked in and a core of young controllable position players They obv need another bat and to clear out some of the vets, but there are much worse

@RealCalvin1 we just hired another "Project Manager". I've been asking for help to actually DO WORK for 3 years now. We just get more managers.

My take is that the share of the top 1% of the world (the "high-skill immigrants" that the OP is talking about) who actually decide to immigrate to the US aren't "the entire world." They are only the tiniest fraction of it. And we're lucky we get them because they drive innovation and growth.

Midseason Top 30 from Baseball America today. Eyanson 13 -> 2, Delzine 24 -> 11, Rivera UNR -> 12 Bleis, Castro, Garvia, and Taylor dropped out. Outside the top 10, it starts looking weak quickly.

@redsoxstats Been .500 since purging Cora and his crew of misfits. Just need Roman back to ignite the offense shouldn’t need much with how good the pitching staff is 3 runs probably wins most games

Beauty of a swing. I still think we see a lot more of that in years to come. Not enough of it happening right now. Also, someone should put a stick of dynamite in the Wally helmet and see if that changes the vibes.
